O'man. These are the kind of boots I was looking for back when I bought my MX ones. Don't get me wrong, I like my boots, but I would have paid extra for something like that.

*I won't be able to afford new boots for years (the ones I got will last that long), but someone needs to buy these and let me know.

Total dirt noob question - I've been riding with shorty Sidi street boots on the WRR and wanted to get something more protective for the dirt. I picked up a pair of Moose M1 boots and tried to go for a ride today in them.

Is it just because I bought ridiculously cheap boots or are all MX boot stiff as a ski boot? I get basically no ankle pivot ability with them on and they are so big I would have to reclock the shift lever by about 30 degrees to get them to fit under (and then use my whole leg to shift instead of just flicking my toe up).

thanks

yeah thats the whole MX boot situation.. I have MX boots but really prefer a softer boot when dual sport'n. I have the Gaerne Balance boots and really love them, they feel great on the controls and are very comfy. Now they don't have protection as a MX boot, but I don't ride an MX bike nor my WR like a dirt bike soo.. works good for me.

Those Axo Darts look very good and probably very comfortable with a bit more support than the Balance I have, at almost half the price...

If I'm just around town, I'll use sneakers
If it's a day of street - twisties(which i don't really do on an R) I'll wear my Alpinestars Plus boots
If it's going to be in the dirt (even only gravel roads) I'll wear my AXO boxer boots.

Yes, MX boots are stiff. Ski boot was my first thought too. Everyone pounded into my head that they would break in, and they where right. Totally comfortable. Not like my other footwear, but....you know.

*I wish shift levers had more adjustment to them!!!

MX boots are just gonna be stiff as hell until you get them broken in. My tech 6's are much much better now that they have a few thousand miles on them, especially after getting them soaked and letting them dry on my feet a few times. Now I can't think of getting rid of them unless they start to really fall apart.

I had a pair of Gaerne Balance boots for a few day (sold them because they were too big for me, bought them off the ADV Flea Market), while they were certainly more flexible, I didn't like how floppy they were. I also still would not have wanted to hike all day in them. All I really want to add is a pair of mid length waterproof boots (between MX and shorty boots) and I'll be happy with footwear.

Anybody have a pair of these KLIM Adrenaline GTX Boots?
http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/2/6/3/24581/ITEM/Klim-Adrenaline-GTX-Boots.aspx

I've got a buddy that just bought the Alpine Star tech 2 Shorty boots and he was complaining about the comfort. Of course I think all of these boots take a while to break in...

I'm currently just wearing a pair of work boots, which are comfortable enough to walk in but my shins sure do feel exposed. I think the KLIM Adrenaline GTX Boots would have the same problem.

Personally I don't like laces on my riding boots. Seen too many things get sucked into chains or conveyors in my short time to want to risk that. Otherwise, they seem like nice hikers (if they aren't too heavy) that can be used more safely than most on a motorcycle. The price aint bad either. They certainly won't have much shin protection as a real off-road boot though.

I found my waterproof mid-length boot: Tour Master Solutions. Hope they're actually waterproof, I'll probably be able to find out in the next few days if this weather keeps up. Now I've got three pairs: warm 3-season street (thor 50/50), rain (tourmasters), and off-road weather-be-damned (Alpinestars Tech6). I've still got my cheap rubber overboots too for the thor's and the A*.

A couple of buddies have nothing but praise for the Tourmasters. I intended to buy a pair, but just couldn't get the fit right. I bet you'll like them.
