Had the bike a couple of weeks before I started meddling. Very happy with the result though. Fitted Pirelli Scorpions. Installed a bigger rear sprocket, replaced the front sprocket and fitted a longer chain. Put on a Q4 exhaust and Megabomb header. Opened up the flapper and fitted a K&N high flow filter. Removed all the standard stuff you can take off when you remove the factory exhaust and fitted a 12 O'Clock Labs EXUP emulator and FMF Power Programmer.  Then I removed anything I didn't need - pillion foot pegs, one mirror and the huge rear light/number plate arrangement. Fitted a tail tidy and job done.

Hadn't run the bike for 2 weeks while I waited for all the bits to arrive from the USA and did the work. Started it up today and started with the first touch of the button. The sound is so much better! Rode it down to my local bike shop to show the very pleasant guys that work there the finished bike and it felt an entirely better machine - so much quicker, great torque, instant pick up - just perfect.

A good day and this is how it looks now...

Thanks very much! As I did all the mods together I'm not sure what difference each one individually made but I had heard good things about the header and the bike really feels totally different now - lots and lots more grunt and sounds so good. Look forward to seeing you soon!

Did the same engine mods to my new WR recently and was also very pleasantly surprised at how much it perked up the little engine. I haven't done the gearing change yet, but will soon.

Glad to hear you like it too! I think you are right to do the gearing as well - still has plenty enough cruising speed without running out of revs but much better pulling away and enough grunt to lift the front wheel over obstacles on the throttle.

Exactly.  I'm used to much more hp on both the street and dirt.  When I was looking to buy the WR, the PO let me take a test ride.  The bike was still new (348 miles) and completely stock.  I literally almost went over the handlebars the first time I cracked the throttle, expecting the front to come up, or at least more forward momentum than I got.  I almost passed on it, but it was such a clean bike, and I really wanted a small street legal off road bike.  Plus I managed to negotiate the PO down to a very acceptable price...

And... I am very pleased with the engine improvements with the mods, and the bike now moves out quite smartly.  I think the gearing change will put me where I want to be for the dirt, and I just hope it can keep up with my buds on the street rides out to the boonies.

Hi,

I put my last post under the wrong topic by mistake so here it is again - did one final mod - Zeta hand guards with built in indicators - seem good to me!
