Brand new D606/MT21 tires are squirrely!

Just put some brand new D606/MT21 tires on my WRR rims after converting from 17's with distanzias. Went for a ride today and above 50mph the bike felt like the front wheel was loose. Thing was riding like it was on a knife edge. I thought I had forgotten to torque the front axle or something. Checked everything out and rode back home slowly. Checked pressures and im at 25/25. Is this too much pressure? Or is this just the way these tires ride?

Not sure what you were riding on but I usually am running 18 or 20 PSI on my 606 / MT21 combo in the past. I have been known to go as low as 13 if things got sloppy.

I just picked up a spare set of wheels and am currently running Shinko 705's on the WRR around town here. I have just put a set of Trackmaster II's on the spare wheel set and will be testing those out on a 3 day DS riding in the GA, TN, and NC mountains.

I agree, with a DOT knobby like the 606 the most I run is 15 psi. They are rock hard even at that pressure. For dirt I like 8 to 11 psi but need rim locks for that.
