Phone Mount

any of you guys use your phone as satnav?


I've been looking into mounts that are somewhat weatherproof and still allow charging access and have only found the one from Arkon.

anybody use it or have other ideas?

I have an iphone and use the lifeproof case along with the lifeproof belt clip (lockable) attached to a ram mount.
All works flawlessly.

Also use Motion X app for GPX files etc..

Yeah I had already thought of using a something like that but I can't find any phone specific cases for my phone (HTC Desire 500).

only alternative would be to use some of those waterproof bags in addition to a standard open mount... but most seem to have a weird locking mechanism which wouldn't allow for the usb cable to stick out. hard to tell from the online pictures

No phone. No GPS. Nothing mounted on the dash. Eyes on the road.

Ram mount is the way to go. I don't bother with waterproofing and if it looks like things are going to get dicey I'll put it in my pocket.

I've used this on several outings. Completely waterproof. I also ran a USB connection from my battery to the mount. Then download the FREE GPS app called "GPS Drive" and you're set. You can even download maps that people have done in your area to it.

I use the RAM Aqua box for my phone.
