I posted this on ADVRider also.  I want to make sure it's going to work before I order.

I need new tires. I have a T63 on the back and a Trail Wing on the front. Since I lean way more off road than on I'm thinking about going with the MT21's. I'll be adding rim locks also. Our stock front tire size is 80/100-21, the MT21 only comes in 80/90P-21. Is that an issue?
I need to place an order and I'm not close to the bike, how wide are the rims? Two rim locks in back, one in front right?
I'll have to do occasional 50-70 miles stretches of highway, any problem with these tires on slab?
What do you guys normally air down to off road?

The MT21 Front is available in a 80/90P-21 and a 90/90R-21. I have ran both on my WRR without an issue. I fel the 80/90P-21 was less likely to push offroad than the 90/90R-21.

If your riding is mainly offroad I may give the Kenda Trackmaster II's a look. Relatively inexpensive and they seem to hook up well. The front can be a bit skittish on pavement but so far the two DS rides I have done on them they really have performed well. Right now I have a 80/100-21 Front and a 100/100-18 Rear Trackmaster II's on my WRR.

Thanks, that's the info I needed. Which tire will wear longer, MT21 or Kenda? I have never used Kenda's as they were so much cheaper I questioned their quality. I guess I need to get over that. Also I'm not familiar with the Kenda sizes, will this make my bike taller? I'm at my limit with stock sizes.

I suspect they would wear about the same but I cannot state that for certain since I only have about 300 miles on my TrackMasters. Based on what I am seeing so far I would expect similar life.

I like the MT21 front tire but it does wear in a weird pattern. I guess you could extend the front tire life by flipping it once or twice to change the direction of the wear pattern.

The MT21 rear tire can be a bit tricky. When new they work very well. However, may experience is that there is a pretty rapid performance drop off as they wear when compared to something like a D606 rear tire.

One of the riders on our CODBR trip last summer was running the Trackmaster 2's and I was really impressed with the performance they were getting so I decided to give them a shot. For the price I really figured there was not much to loose. So far I am happy... even bought a set for my Beta 520 RR.

As far as rim locks, I used the Motion Pro ultralightweight ones. That required less weight to balance the wheel.

You talked me into the Kendra's! I got the lightweight Motion Pro rim locks too. I would have gotten the Mitas but the only supplier I found didn't have the correct sizes.
