PostSubject: the bike rips / misfires   the bike rips / misfires EmptyFri Jul 25, 2014 10:44 am

Hello to all
I just recently purchased a second hand YAMAHA WR250R seemed fine.
Since I have a little problem, if you do gas suddenly the bike misfires, I thought the spark plug, replaced but the problem persists.
If you travel without giving gas suddenly no problem,
Idea of what it might be?
Sorry for my English but I use google translator (I'm Italian)

Can you please list the parts of the bike you have that are NOT stock from Yamaha parts?

Is there a different exhaust?
Is there a fuel programmer?
Anything cut off, or removed from the airbox?
Is the AIS stuff still on bike?

That kind of thing.

I'm sure your English is far better than my Italian.  Shog

Have you opened up airbox and made sure there's nothing blocking the airflow to the engine?

No mouse nests?  eeek

Battery connections are all tight?

Hello to all, no idea for my problem ...
I have seen the problem and frequently do when gas in 1 - 2 - 3 while driving in 4 - 5 - 6 seems that the bike rips more.
thanks to all

Can you try to describe in more detail what you mean by "misfire"?

Do you just mean there's a hesitation when you snap throttle open before the bike responds?

Or does the bike actually "bog down" like it's going to stall, then it accelerates?

Also, you have an oxygen sensor on your bike right? It's a European model I assume?

You could have a lean, or rich fuel situation that an efi fuel programmer could easily solve.

The trouble is, it's very hard to understand exactly what's happening over the internet.
There's no way to know what the previous owner may have changed.

There's a setting in the "taco" mode that might help you too.
see here: https://wr250rforum.forumotion.com/t1141-wr-taco-in-diagnostic-mode?highlight=taco

Do you have a Yamaha dealership nearby? A last resort might be to take it to Yamaha dealer and let them check bike out.

Sorry I can't help more.

excuse me again I know it 'difficult to explain
the defect and this

Or does the bike actually "bog down" like it's going to stall, then it accelerates?

I have been to the dealership and the answer was that it could be the dirty gasoline ..
I do not know what do you think?
I do not know how to clean the tank ..

How many times have you put gas in the bike since you've owned it?
Did you put at least 90 octane or higher in it when you filled it up?
Did you buy gas from a station that has a lot of business? This pretty much guarantees the gas you're getting is "fresh" gas at the pump.

You could remove tank from bike, and basically empty all the gas out it, then refill it once you've re-installed the tank.
However, since you say the bike always seems to run fine except when you whack the throttle open I'd say you could simply ride bike until you need to put more gas in it, then make sure you fill the bike with the freshest and appropriate octane gas you can get.

Since these gas tanks are so small it should not take long before you need more gas.

How long have you owned bike? How many miles/kilometers have you actually ridden it since you bought it?
I imagine you can only go about 140 kilometers before you need gas?

Can you post some pictures of bike? I've never seen an Italian wr.  Very happy

If the gas was bad, I'd assume you'd see problems all the time, not just when you really jump on throttle.

I'm not understanding 'nothing
the problem 'in the first second and third gear
as if there were no current to the spark plug for a shot
I open the shutter but only the gas
I do not know I'm a little 'disappointed
I would not spend a digit from yamaha dealer for a trifle

PostSubject: Re: the bike rips / misfires   the bike rips / misfires EmptyMon Jul 28, 2014 8:33 am

I'm sure it's frustrating, and I wish I could tell you it's an easy fix.

So this problem does not happen in 4th, 5th, or 6th gear?

Only 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear?

You can cruise along nicely with no problems, but only when you snap the throttle wide open, in the 3 lower gears, you get a feeling like a cut out in power for a second, and then the power comes back and all is fine?

Otherwise your bike is running fine? Gently rolling on the throttle does not cause any problems? Only when your really whack the throttle open?

I think many people with stock bikes find a hesitation in throttle response.
A lot of that can be solved by purchasing an efi fuel programmer.

These bikes come pretty restricted from the factory and that can lead to slightly less than optimum performance.

Over the internet, and with a language barrier, it's tough to tell if your "problem" is relatively normal, or more extreme than normal.

If it's a slight, momentary hesitation and then all is good, I'd suggest looking into a fuel programmer.

If you're darn near getting run over by the cars behind you because the bike is almost stalling in these circumstances I'd say you've got a bigger problem.

Sorry I can't help more.

Maybe the best bet is to find somebody who lives near you with a similar bike and talk to them about what you're having problems with.
See if they have an answer for you. Maybe switch bikes for a quick ride.

My wr250x does not do what you describe, but my X isn't stock, and is not a European model either.

Good luck, and if you find out what the problem was, or do something that fixes the problem, please report back with what you did.

May be water in the fuel.

Remove fuel tank.
Invert tank to drain out fuel.
Rinse tank with fresh fuel.

Install and fill tank.

Può essere acqua nel carburante.

Smontare il serbatoio carburante.
Inverti serbatoio per drenare carburante.
Sciacquare serbatoio con carburante nuovo.

Unfortunately, I filled the tank with fresh gasoline 6.5lt ..
do not you think that if there is water dilutes it further?

Water doesn't mix with the gasoline, but settles to the bottom of the tank in bubbles.
I vote to drain the fuel tank, too, and pour in some fresh gasoline.
It's easy to do, so why not try it?
I'd also have a look at the air filter and service the air filter if that has not been done recently.

Hello everyone
I took the bike to the mechanic today.
Totally solved the problem, not more and not ripping you off when I go down the gears.
They told me that they checked the injection and some adjustment here and there (total € 110.00).
in the end I do not know what 's been done anyway and now' another bike.
Now I'd like to change a bit the sound of the muffler without replacing it (over money).
Thanks to all
