New to the forum but not new to Yamaha's or riding. I have been riding a KLR 650 and my wife rides an XT250. My son bought a new WR last year and I decided my KLR was just to heavy for the western mountain trails. so I bought a 2012 WR this week and am in the process getting it set up like I want it. Ordered Flatland skid plate and Spiral Step seat today. Already have Edge light kit so I am about ready to hit the road/trails. Headed to CO in July and August. Below is picture of some of my toys.

Thanks fiftygrit for the welcome. I am for sure going to enjoy the WR. Last year my wife and I rode a lot in Colorado but I was limited on which trails I would try. Just didn't want to get a 400 pound bike down in the back country. It will be different this summer. Below is a picture of us on the Tin Cup Pass trail.

Welcome to the site.

alot of riders are in the same boat.. i was steering away from the rabbit and goat paths on the klr mostly because i ride alone into the abyss and figured that i had only one good 400+lb bike recovery in me before i would have to hike a half day for help.
Will you be keeping the klr or thinning the herd? I have been alternating bike/ rides to try and rationalize the choice but so far have thought about nothing more than which is the most weather favorable days to ride. :hmmm: ..lol some would call that avoidance.

enjoy the new bike

Welcome thumb

I too had a KLR and switched to the WRR, its waaaaay better for where I ride, I only go on the highway for 10 minutes once in a while and have tons of difficult trails to ride on, the KLR was too big for some of the places I tried to take it but the WRR is almost as good as a offroad only bike in the trails. Very happy

I will keep the KLR for those rides that aren't back country trails, it is just too much fun to get rid of yet. My wife and ride 2-up a lot for those ridestoo. I will be getting rid of the TTR, now that it have the WR I won't need it. Decisions, decisions, decisions................
