| Hi I replaced the rear 43 sprocket with a 47. can I still use the chain tension specified in the Yamaha manual 8-13mm. If not what measurement would be considered properly adjusted with a 13 up front and 47 on the rear. The bike is 100% stock minus the new rear 47 and a 112 Link Chain. Any help appreciated. |

| Running 13/47 with stock adjustments. Should keep the same so not slapping the swingarm or too loose. | |

| Nice man, I got a '15 WRR also. I'm think of getting a 48 or 49 tooth. Did you have to get a tapered bolt set to attach the sprocket or did you use your stock ones? also what brand? | |

| Theres moose sprocket bolt kits plus other brands, they're the same for most dirt bikes.
The places I order parts online list them and the local dealers stock them.

| Where did you order your sprocket from, the one place I checked wanted $57 dollars to ship from the USA, not going to happen, especially the way the dollar is, that would be a $200 dollar rear sprocket hahahaha | |

| I just bought a wrF sprocket at my local MX dealer and bolted it on. If you flip it over you can even use the stock bolts. | |

Does it really matter what any one thinks.. I may say that you need to do 13/48 or you don't have game while some one else says 13/47 is the only way to go. At the end of the day it is your decision and how you ride the bike that will lead you to where you want to be. I started out at 13/48 and went and did the COBDR with that setup. Came back to Georgia and decided that 14/50 may work better with the riding around here. Did that for a bit and now I am going back to 13/48 since I will be spending a little bit more time on some tight trails this year. So make a choice and try it out... you will then have experience.

| Dont go too crazy if you still want some highway cruising.
You could start easy and cheap with a 12 on the front, and see how you like it, and finetune from there.
If you find you want more, go back to the 13, and get 47-48 rear or even more.If its fine, wear it down and get something like a 46 rear with the 13.
Im at 14/48, and think its on the low side, when riding highway ect. It does woods-riding pretty well.
If it wasnt for highway/interstate, I would go a tad lower, like 14/50.

I haven't done my gearing yet but I've done my share of reading. One piece of advice I've seen is if you want to try 13/47 or 13/48 which is quite popular you can also buy a 14 tooth front which is quite cheap. You will need to replace the front sprocket guard like the one sandman makes. If your not happy with 13/47 or 48 whichever you choose change the front out to 14 and its close to the ratio 13/45. At least then you aren't out a lot of cash on another rear sprocket. This is on my shopping list. If you want to change because a ride is more single track chuck on the 13 tooth. If it's more highway change to the 14 tooth. It's easy and quick to change. But it's just my opinion and as I said I haven't tried it yet but plenty of people have. Be careful of the evil 12 tooth front. It can eat the chain slider and swing arm.

A Primary rear drive sprocket is $19.99 from Rocky Mountain ATV (https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/3175/2192/Primary-Drive-Rear-Steel-Sprocket?v=10553). They have lots of choices between 40 and 52 teeth. I have been running these rear sprockets on my WRR for the last 8000 miles with no issues. Cheap way to figure out what you want and then you can buy the high $$ ones if you are into Bling.

| No suppliers of primary drive in Australia that I've found. I've seen people say good things about them on the forum and am keen to give them a go. I've found an Australian seller on eBay but they aren't as cheap here. International postage is a killer on sprockets too.
Front is an easy change if the wants to change it after a highway run but if you can get rear sprockets that cheap it isn't really an issue.

But then there are some things available down there that we can't get here. Then again the poster who was questioning which way to go was from California so he should be able to pick up a Primary Drive line - their front sprockets are cheap too but I have stopped using them since I was getting high wear on them. Maybe common issue but for now I am trying a Renthal front sprocket.

| That's good to know about the wear on the front. Is the Renthal front your using steel?
I just got my exhaust and gearing is next on the list but that's after some work on the house.

I just got my exhaust and gearing is next on the list but that's after some work on the house. The front and rear are both steel. I gave up on AL sprockets for my DS rides.. they just wear out too quickly. Still run a rear AL sprocket on my GasGas though.

| The guys down under should be able to source some wr/yz/250/450 rears that fit.
I bought one at my local MX dealer when I needed one in a hurry.

I bought one at my local MX dealer when I needed one in a hurry. It's not that I can't get sprockets locally. It's just me not wanting to spend a fortune with everything else I have going on and the primary drive reviews haven't been bad. Plus with the Australian dollar being low parts add up. And the local shops in a small town don't miss you.
