New to me 09

Hey guys! Picked up an 09 with only 3000 km's a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't really actively looking for one, but this was a deal I just couldn't pass up!

As you can see, it's totally stock. I've also learned that an almost worn out stock Trailwing really sucks in sand! Lol! Nice to have a light bike again, my current other bikes are an 08 KLR and an old GoldWing. Thinking of ordering tires and a skidplate soon... D606 methinks

Welcome, a 606 with low pressure would be a good option for sand that for sure.

+1 on the 606. Its a nice tire and I'm on my third year with it. I heard mixed reviews on the Donlop front so I went with the MT21 front and I have no complaints. Seems to be a good match.

BTW, IMO any tire sucks in sand!

I did spoon some new tires on. I was going to go for the 606's but decided to try another combo first... I think it will do a little better in the sand now

There's tons of sand in my area so I decided to try the Trakmaster 2 out. I went for a CST Surge 1 on the front... The Surge isn't listed as DOT in the writeups, but the tire has the DOT stamp on the sidewall. I have a friend on another forum who swears by this combo. He did say that the Trakmaster doesn't last very long on his XR650L but last's much longer on his lighter bikes. They were cheap to buy so if I don't like them I'll order up the 606's like I had originally planned.

This was my second choice to the D606. Someone please chime in who has owned both?
