Hello everyone

I guess that I am not a new member, because I already had a login when
I tried to register. I must have followed a few of the Founding Fathers and
Mothers from the ADVR Mega Thread a bunch of years ago. I came close to
buying a WRR back then, but couldn't make it work.

Well, hopefully, that failure is finally being remedied. I am very close to
being the new owner of a 2008, bought new in 2010, with under 500 miles.
It popped up nearby on Craig's List and I just had to get 'er done.

I've never owned a bike, and haven't ridden in 30 years, so my "adventure"
is going to begin immediately bannana

The bike looks to be completely stock, so I am assuming that the weird
rubber-coated rear sprocket will be on there. Have there been any other
significant updates over the years? The bike just had the strator recall done.
I haven't talked about the fuel pump with the current owner, not sure if he
would be aware of its shortcomings. Wasn't there some suspension tweaking
somewhere along the way?...

Thanks

Luke

Welcome, good luck getting the bike, you will enjoy it, there are lots of suspension tweek`s to do but I would ride it a bit and see if you need to change anything, if you get the book with it, it explains the different settings front and back. cheer`s

Yeah, I'll definitely be messing with the clickers.

I guess I was thinking that a minor upgrade showed
up from Yamaha at one point. I may be misremembering
things again...

Mine is a 14 model and I cant see any difference in the 16 model, maybe between the 08 to a 16 there may be some small stuff, but I think its mostly the plastic`s.

That's what I am thinking/hoping...

Regardless, really excited about the possibility of getting
a stock bike so I can experience the full farkle-effect.

Not much diff in the years of the bike but the 08 was known for fuel pump issues. Buy the bike and stop wasting time. Life is short I'm learning and do the stuff you want to do in life while you can. thumb

Oh, I'm buying it all right. Just have to wait for the seller to
get back in town.

I'm not worried about any updates, was just curious.

Also not worried about the fuel pump. Every bike has
its doohickey. Most have more than one.

Unfortunately, I've read about a few newer bikes that
have had the pumps go bad. Even ones that have already
been replaced. I'm not convinced that the new part number
means you'll never have another problem.

My plan will be to spend the money on the new number
assembly and pump before the original goes bad. Then,
I'll have a easy-install spare to take along on long rides.
When the first one goes bad, then replace just the pump,
and always have two functioning complete assemblies.

We'll see. Need to re-learn how to ride first Shog

Hi Luke,
I'm an old forum member about to become a new MN resident. Actually I was born and raised in MN, moved to Boston several years ago and am now returning to MN this summer. We should see if there are enough MN members for a WR ride sometime.

Definitely.

This will be my first bike, so I am not plugged in yet with the Twin Cities DS community.
Once I get my full certification, I am looking forward to meeting some people and learning
about some good local rides, as well as info on the great looking single track farther north.

There seems to be a pretty healthy community up here, going by the regional threads
on advrider.com
