| Is anyone running this as a rear tire ? If so , any fitment issues ?
I have searched for hours with no real concrete actual information.
The 140/80 17 apparently fit but I don't want the extra height.

| A bit late on the reply, but 150/70 should work. I currently have a 160/60 on the rear (120/70 front) and have the 705 150/70 ready to go on in a few hundred miles, maybe less. The unmounted 150/70 measures narrower than the mounted 160/60, so getting it on should be a breeze.
Chain rub is really my only concern, as it is significant with the 160/60, but I expect it will be less with the 150/70. FWIW, most folks running a 150/60 report minimal or no chain rub.

| I am now thinking of trying a 705 130/80 - 17
This only adds about 1/4" in the height of the tire. It also eliminates any rubbing worries. I don't think I need the extra width.

| Just curious, why did you decide to use the 705? Not that it's a bad tire, and it's certainly inexpensive, but it is extremely heavy. Unless you are matching an existing front (or sort of matching--I have an MT60), there are other choices worth considering depending on your on/off road split. | |

| I am about 75% on road and 25% off. When I say off road I mean forestry type roads, some mildly technical single track etc.
I didn't realize the shinko was a heavy tire. The price is certainly right. I had a very good experience with a Shinko that I put on my BMW 650 Dakar, it was a last minute purchase before a trip to replace my Heideneau....I thought the Shinko was a better tire at half the price.
I swap between a 17" and 21" front wheel so I am looking for a rear tire that will be generally good for both uses.

| Seems like you have thought it through. Regarding the weight, I was very surprised (although it is mentioned in several online reviews) at how much heavier it was than both the 140/70 and 180/55 sport tires I have in the garage. I don't have any experience yet on how it affects the WRX's performance.
Also, there may be some weight differences between TL/TT and Radial/Bias. The 150/70 is a TL Radial. The 130/80 is a TL Bias.
When I was making my choice I also looked at the Full Bore M-40/M-41. I'm not sure whether it is appreciably lighter.

| Picked up the 130/80- 17 for my 250X today. I guess nothing better than giving it a try. The good about a Shinko...pretty good tires at a very good price...rather may a $90 dollar mistake than a $200 one !
I will keep you all posted on how this works out. Tires for a 250X are not easy due to the somewhat odd size...especially if you want a more aggressive grip.

| Here are some photos of the Shinko 705 rear 130/80-17 The bike handles better than when I had my old street IRC 140/70-17 on the back (or so I think) Certainly better on gravel. The bad..I lost about 2-3 mph on easy highway cruising speed...must be the extra weight or something. I can still hold 70-75 mph without too much trouble. No fitment issues on the 130/80 - 17 | |

and you lost top speed with the 150?? I thought it would be up-gear with bigger circumference...?

| Front tire is a Heidenau K73 120/70 - 17
I did loose some top end (not much) when I put the Shinko on the back...maybe due it is a heavier tire ? Not sure
