Can anyone tell me what I'm missing?

Hello,

I'm new to the bike world, and just purchase a lightly used 2014 WR250R. I noticed it's missing something on the back left side of the bike , below the helmet lock. Can anyone tell me what this part is? In photos it looks like a black box.

What you are missing is the vehicle tool kit.

Leave the factory one off as it will get lost any way. There are aftermarket replacement ones available that are long tubes and much more secure, and hold lots more than the box.

I have found the factory tool kit stays on the bike great, in fact I did a off road race this morning with it on the bike and its still there, this included an mx track that we ran backwards so I flat landed from 6-8 feet in the air a bunch of times bottoming out hard enough my shoulders hurt, if this didn't rip it off the bike nothing will lol.

I've added a couple allen keys to the factory tool kit so I can get the plastic off the bike with it, its all I carry for tools 1/2 the time.

The factory toolkit stays on my bike just fine too... despite repeated attempts to dislodge it.

You can buy it from any of the online OEM parts resellers.  Partzilla is one popular source.  I usually use Rocky Mountain ATV & Motorcycle.

Once you enter your bike model and year look for the "frame" schematic.

RMATV shows around $25 for the empty tool box, rubber grommets, and strap (all separate part numbers.)  The tool kit that goes inside of it is another $34.

The factory tool kit can come off. I don't know if it was race pace or a get-off, but mine was gone after an enduro I ran.

Mine also stays solidly attached and the bike sees extensive hard offroad use.  That said I don't believe I've  used it more than once or twice and were it lost I wouldn't replace it.  I carry a tool kit in my tail bag that has sufficed so far.  I only count on the factory kit for individual wrenches.
