PJ1 Filter Oil Empty
PostSubject: PJ1 Filter Oil   PJ1 Filter Oil EmptyFri Sep 23, 2016 4:28 pm

I just used up my last bottle of PJ1 Foam Filter Oil. I had a stash of this that I bought maybe 15-20 years ago. It is fairly thick and has a consistency similar to motor oil. I opened a new bottle of PJ1 Foam Filter Treatment, and is is way thinner. Both products say Super Tacky, and the old oil is indeed very tacky, but the new isn't tacky at all and looks more like colored water. Anyone else notice this?

If you smear a small amount of the new oil on your fingertip and wait a minute, does it get tacky then?

Yes, a bit more viscous and sticky, but nothing like the old stuff.

I never used PJ1 foam filter oil, but maybe they changed the formula, and it's also likely the 15-year-old bottle had some of it's thinning solvent evaporate through the plastic bottle.

I have used Maxima FFT for at least 30 years (probably more).
Goes on nearly as thin as water, and get tacky like fly paper.

I'm sure they changed the formula, and it's also interesting that it's now called foam filter treatment instead of foam filter oil.
Thanks for the info; I'll think I'll try the Maxima next time around.
