Hi,

I would like to see what others are using for tire pressure for offroad use. Here in the NE we have mostly hardpack/single track and LOTS of rocks.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Buck

your best best is 12psi with ultra heavy duty tubes (bridgestone or michelin: many labeled UHD are just HD). Lighter tubes on rocks with low PSI you're more likely to get a pinch flat.

Do you have rimlocks?

Anyway, tire pressure varies from tire to tire. Some have stiff sidewalls and can be run into the single digits, others need more.
12 psi is a great advice to get you in the ballpark, but dont be afraid to experiment a bit. Look at the tires "footprint" when youre sitting on the bike.

No rim locks, have not yet had a situation where they were needed.

Thanks for the tip.  I've been using 15R and 13F for a couple weeks and it seems to be good.  So far.  I'm a little reluctant to go to low, have an "incident" and get stuck in the woods.  I have to ride 50 miles each way just to get to (legal)off-road trails like this....

You dont know you need them until its too late i guess.
I always kept my previous bikes closer to 18psi with no rimlocks. :)

I have been down to 12 and 14 psi with no rim locks but more recently I have been running around 18 psi.

Typically I always carry a spare front and rear tube with me when I ride.

I have good luck running 13-15 rear and 15 front. We ride a lot of rocks and ride them hard. So far, knock on wood, no flats. I have had other riding buddies to have flats though. I always carry a spare front standard tube(21"works for front and rear), tire spoons and an 18v Ryobi inflator along with a good tool kit. Heavy, YES! Worth it's weight in gold waaay back in the boonies, Hell Yes!!! Haven't had to do a trailside flat fix since last weekend GAHHHH

Been running 16PSI front and rear with no rim locks, and been slightly nervous about it hitting sharper ledges and rocks, but maybe I am being too conservative after reading these responses
