Hey all, just dropping a note to say "hi". I picked up my 2008 WR250R in late summer or early fall of last year. It had just over 600 miles on it, but being an '08 I was able to pick it up for a pretty good price. It was still in all stock form, except for a lowering link (which I am leaving on, at least for now).

It has been a snowy, icy winter here, not well suited for riding. So I've occupied myself with getting it set up as a lightweight adventure bike. I like to do moto-camping sort of stuff in the summer. So far, I've added a skid plate, rear rack, hand guards, protaper bars, and a 3 gallon tank. I also did a home diy tail tidy (just couldn't stand all that crap hanging off the back). I still need to fix those giant turn signals up front.

A bit of my history: My first dual sport was a DR650 that I built into an adventure bike using mostly homemade parts. It was a great bike, but a heavy beast. I yearned to go lighter. So I sold it and bought a Beta 450 RS (a 2008 when they still had KTM RFS engines). That was a fun bike. The power to weight ratio was incredible. It was lighter than the WR and it was a 450. And it was factory street legal (important here in Oregon). But it had its downsides. It had 600-800 mile oil change intervals. Though I fabricated a rear rack, there was little rear frame to attach it to. Parts had to be ordered from one of two places in the country (one being the manufacturer) and there was no aftermarket. And it had terrible street manners. I decided it was too much hassle. And that is how I ended up with the WR250R. I've had the porridge that was too cold and the porridge that was too hot. I'm hoping this porridge is just right.

Anyway, as I said, just saying "hi". I hope to be out riding again soon. But first I have some more garage work to do (a bit of uncorking).
