Hi all, a few shots of my WR in Morocco last month.
Bike was running all the usuals for this sort of travel (see pic below). All that's missing is a better seat and maybe a small screen.

Morocco Wrr-la10

Morocco M3-17-10
Over the High Atlas mountains via a quiet back road.

Morocco M3-17-12
A quick lunch.

Morocco M3-17-11
Then deeper into the desert.

Morocco M3-17-13
A new route through the Anti Atlas.

Morocco M3-17-14
Up into the hills again.

Morocco M3-17-15
Confusing sign.

Morocco M3-17-16
Full Moroccan brekkie

Morocco M3-17-17
Past the oasis

Morocco M3-17-18
Hot night in the desert

Morocco M3-17-19
I take a short cross country ride to another track.

Morocco M3-17-20
Lovely fresh water from the spring.

Morocco M3-17-21
I'm heading for Essemara (Smara), close to the northern Maurtianian border

Morocco M32-1710
Strong northerlies out here

Morocco M32-1711
Recent rains have brought out the wildflowers

Morocco M32-1712
Important crossroads - turn right here or die horribly!

Morocco M35710
Nice view over a chott, or dry lake bed

Morocco M351010
On the chott - great fun to ride

Morocco M351910
Night time in Smara. Rougher than it looks but always wanted to go there.

Morocco Bell10
And now a  l o n g  ride back north via a few more tracks and a freezing crossing of the High Atlas
My '08 didn't miss a beat, but I could sure use more comfort at my age.
You really need nothing more on the dirt but could do with more poke on the highway

Morocco 82-cas10
My original Yam desert bike from 1982. Stuff has got a lot better since then ;-)

Great pics Chris. We (the family) went there four years ago on a cross country trip through Morocco and all I could think about was, I really wish I had a motorcycle for this. Glad to see you enjoyed it.

Thanks for your comments.
I actually bought the bike from the boss of HP in NL, so don't know how a regular WR runs.
No so bad I hear, but I like progressive HP suspension, and best of all, the optional hydraulic preload adjuster knob (HPA) on the 461 shock, let alone all the compression adjusters. No more grazed knuckles with C spanners.
I believe my WR-R is the first to run this shock. Means you can crank it up and down according to loads or terrain (tough it only varies height).
I had the same set up on a BMW XCountry a couple of years back. You only really notice the difference in extremes and barely on the road, but it sure is good to finally know what proper suspension feels like.

Sweet little write up, thanks. Morocco is one of the potential destinations on our annual long ride, the others are across Europe to UK or East into Iran and back around the Caspian. Will be on something slightly more comfortable mind, a Super Tenere, the only sensible choice when going 2 up thumb
