So I have been looking at this bike for about a week and have talked to the guy selling it but I really need the opinion of others for this one.
So the bike has 8k miles on it. The owner before the guy selling it always stunted it so the fairings are scratched the seat is pretty torn and the head light is not stock it's aftermarket. This is what the ad said.

Hi today I'm trying to sell my 2008 wr250x super moto. This thing is absolutely awesome it's a factory super moto so its street legal, it has 2 LED light bars for head lights and tail light and front brake light. It also has a fulll FMF power core exhaust on it with FMF power commander to adjust everything that happens to it, its fuel injected so no carb issues has electric start, horn, key to start and locking gas cap also steering lock on it.


* is this bike really that much fun do you guys think I should get it and just repair it. It comes with title but is a 9 hr drive away from me

I think you should keep looking.
It sounds like the bike has been abused, replacement parts are expensive, engine work is really expensive.
Pay a little more and get a bike that's stock and has been well maintained, even if it has 10,000 miles on it.

i think its a good price to start at.. engine damage would not occur just from stunting it, its a dirt bike so who cares if its ugly you can fix that in time.

its an x model so the wheels alone if they have good tires are worth about a grand and are much better than warp 9, plus it has the much better rotor/brake caliper and the shorter kick stand already. just tally up the cost of all the parts it needs then shoot him an offer like 2500.
what are you looking to do with it?

You can get plastics from here used for pretty cheap, also seats. I would just offer lower and fix everything myself. Also if your want a new headlight the polisport looks pretty good also.

I'm mainly looking to just commute and go off-roading with it at least twice a year or so.if the fairings are changed does it really give the bike a different look?

Well if just commuting and occasional off-roading why are you limiting yourself to a X model only.

I do that with my R with no issues. Could open up the market for you a bit.

I personally wouldn't hesitate, especially if you expect to keep it long term.

I bought an un-pretty heavily modded WRR around that price with 30K on it and 10k later the only issue I have had was a fuel pump replacement which I repaired myself for about $20 bucks. brakes, oil changes, new seat, suspension upgrade, + broken parts from me crashing on single track not included.

These bikes are super dependable.

I would echo other's cautionary comments:

Consider the time and cost of gas to go see it.  

Depending on how it was stunted there could be oil starvation as motors are designed to run with the oil pan down.  I don't stunt so others might correct me.  These motors are not cheap to work on as I understand it.

Be sure you price out what the bike needs--you should be able to find a together model for $3500.  If you think you can make this bike whole for <$700 it might be worth it.  

Ask if he has the stock parts.  Depending on how the related modifications were done it could be tough to get it back to the stock exhaust.  LED light bars could mean anything but I would worry it will blind oncoming drivers and/or not put out a great headlight beam at night.  Depending on how the light bars were installed it could make going to back to the stock headlight tough.

I tend to prefer stock bikes unless I'm sure the mods were done well.  I'd hate to make a 9 hour drive to find out the headlight wiring was butchered or the bike is a cosmetic mess.  Unlike a lot of dual sports I don't believe there are a ton of options for inexpensive aftermarket plastics.
