I recently purchased a set of pro taper fat bars and am in the process of installation. everything went fine until I got to the throttle. when I attach it, the throttle sticks. Shouldn't be this difficult, any tips and tricks?

Take another look at how the throttle tube housing mounted to the stock bars. There's a small pin inside the housing clamp that fits into a hole in the bars to prevent the throttle tube housing from rotating. You'll need to either make a similar hole in the new bars or file the tab down on the clamp, otherwise the throttle tube will bind. If you opt to drill a new hole in your new bars you don't have to drill all the way through, as the aluminum bars have much thicker walls that the stock steel bars.

What he said. Personal experience with that issue. The housing tips slightly due to the pin, which sticks the throttle.

Thanks for the response!

Sounds like Drilling is the best method as you wouldn't want the throttle to move around. Is that the consensus? Anyone just trimmed the pin off?

Any tips on making sure that the drilled out area is properly aligned?

I have put a couple of wraps of electrical or painters tape on the bars and then put the throttle where I want it on the bars (over the tape area) and then tighten things up a bit and maybe rock it back and forth. Remove the throttle and you should have some sort of witness mark where the pin was - drill there.

I just ground the pin off because I wanted to be able to orient the throttle housing any direction I wanted. The housing grips the bars like a vise, there is no chance that it will accidentally rotate on the bars.
