| Does it have the stock exhaust and turn signals?
I have a 2012 with stock (unmolested muffler) and turn signals and don't have an issue at all.

| Hey thanks for the reply. Yes it is completely stock and it only has 480km on it. I have taken a couple spills in the dirt and the bike went head over heels once at slow speeds. I took off the plastics and the seat and it did not seem like anything was bent | |

| Can you take a picture directly from the back of the bike looking forward? I am curious about the alignment of your muffler.
I would post up a picture of mine but it will have to wait until I get home. I think there is more down turn on the exhaust outlet on my bike.

| I suspect your muffler got bent upward a bit. I will take a picture of mine when I get home this weekend in close to the same orientation as your picture to see if there is a difference. One thing you can look at is the metal bracket that holds the fender and I think the turn signal mounts in place. It is relatively thin and easily bent - I have bent mine. It is item #2 in the above diagram. | |

| Hi Bob Thanks for your help. Unfortunatley it does not look like that piece is visibly bent. Its just frustrating because I cant identify the problem | |

| I agree with rsteiger in that you have an alignment problem of some sort. I've had my exhaust off a few times and I'm not sure how one could bend the exhaust up enough to melt the turn signal. I would check all the mounting bolts (I've lost some along the way) loosen all of the clamps and see if anything seems off. Also check that the turn signal is mounted properly though it looks fine visually.
That said the Yamaha turn signals aren't great and the rear right is precariously close to the path of the exiting exhaust. I've had this problem a few times when my turn signal came loose, drooped and eventually melted. I ride a lot offroad on rough terrain and the turns signals are designed to break away on impact or even I suppose just large bumps. Ultimately it destroyed the turn signal and I replaced them all with the crash advantage LEDs turn signals from procycle, 12 o'clock labs' fixed rate flasher and running light adapters. It requires a little wiring prowess but all went on seamlessly and the turn signals are thus far indestructible. There are little plastic plugs available for a few $$ online that adapt the yamaha teardrop turn signal hole to the round hole of aftermarket turn signals--if you can't find them let me know and I'll dig up where I got them.
Edit: +1 on the metal bracket, it's easily bent. It should also be easy to bend back into place.

| Is this the plates you are referring to? I need to pick up some to replace the front turn signals. Already did the rear (with a tail tidy kit) and want the front to match. Already have the signals, just need a way to mount them...

https://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-Adapters-Spacers-Aftermarket-Indicators/dp/B01BH5YH4G#Ask Visually, yes, that's them though I think I got them here: https://www.motodynamic.com/yamaha/turn-signal-adapters/yamaha-turn-signal-adapters-spacers-for-aftermarket-stalk-type-indicators-front-or-rear.html You can use those adapters for the front as well and keep the yamaha mounts (that's what I did) or pro-cycle sells mounts that should work, I haven't tried them. -morgan

-morgan Cool, thanks! I bought my tail tidy kit from ProCycle, but didn't see the brackets for the front. Will have to look again...

| Here are the photos of my exhaust location: I would say either your exhaust is up a bit or your rear fender/subframe is low - the top of your heat shield on the muffler is about even with the top of your rear fender. If you at my photos the top of my heat shield is below the bottom of the rear fender. | |

| Did you buy it new? if not the previous owner may have had an aftermarket pipe and replaced it with the stock when he sold it. As others have said, it may be an alignment issue. | |
