Did 130 mile shake down ride on this setup yesterday and I'm extremely happy. Roughly 50/50 pavement to gravel/single track. Gearing is 13/50 and with these tires the WR finally felt like I have always wanted it to in off road situations. Planted and controlled, more grunt than twitch. Spent most single track time in hilly soft but rocky and rooted soil. Plenty of dead fall branches to go over and around. Whenever the tires would slide it was always gradual and predictable. The only negative I have to report is the amount of wear on the front tire. I predict the front will be done after 1k. The rear still looks fantastic.

Yesterday was the most enjoyable single track day I've had on the WR here in the Ozarks and now I'm looking forward to plenty more.

That's what I'm running as well, both tires and gearing. Which Hybrid are you running? I'm running the Gummy BFM. I wasn't sure what to expect but I'm a fan. I just spent four days in Death Valley and was impressed in everything- deep loose sand, serious rocks of every kind, dirt, gravel. Compared to the D606 it did slide out more quickly but as you say, once I got used to it it was predictable and actually a lot of fun.

Cheers.

Hey Jotis great to hear your experience. I have the standard Mountain Hybrid on the rear. Do you have the Pirelli MT21 front? If so I'd like to hear what your wear experience has been like. My time on the pavement wore them down more than I expected.

Yep, I've got the MT21, this is my second one. I got over 3k on the first one and it still had life when I replaced it. That included the 1200 mile New Mexico BDR (probably 40/60) and the 500 all-tarmac wfo miles back to my vehicle. The other miles on the tire were probably about 40/60 as well.

Good news Jotis, maybe the wear will slow after the this initial break in run. dunno

I think he said he rode your WR before he bought his.
We rode on both sides of 341; he grew up there and knows the trails well.
I had met him at the Don't Fall rally in October, I thought I was the only one from AR there again. Found I wasn't even the only one from Mt. Home :)

Oh ya I remember him. He approached me at a gas station in town asking about the bike. Turned out we knew some of the same people so I let him take it for a spin. Didn't remember his name though.

We were exploring the Sugarloaf Mountain area between 5 and Culp rd.
