Albertans are Losing Our Lands Empty
PostSubject: Albertans are Losing Our Lands   Albertans are Losing Our Lands EmptySun Jan 20, 2019 1:00 am

This is not a political post.

This post is not specifically related to dirt bikes.

This post is not off topic.

This post relates to and affects any Albertan who has or may wish to use the back country.

This post is about Albertans rights to access resources owned by Albertans.

The Alberta government is planning to close the Bighorn region to many users by creating a provincial park.  Last year they closed down the Castle region.
Bighorn Country Proposal: https://talkaep.alberta.ca/bighorn-country
The Bighorn region extends from Banff National Park eastward towards Drayton Valley.  It includes Clearwater County, most of Brazeau County and the current Bighorn Backcountry management area including Waiparous.

This is not just an OHV issue.  This will affect all Albertans that wish to access the back country for things like hiking, biking, horseback riding, hunting, fishing, camping, and generally communing with nature.  The prime driver behind this is a special interest group funded and run from outside of Alberta.  They make many claims about preservation but they have one goal: Keep people out of the mountains.  It is a group that has nothing to do with Alberta.  They claim it’s about preservation but for whom are they preserving it?

The concept of a democratic government is that it is by the people for the people for generations, not by and for other people from elsewhere.  Exercise your democratic right and tell the Alberta government we want to enjoy nature without a park.

Please do what you can to help.

1.  Fill in the survey at the following link stating that you are OPPOSED to the proposal:
https://extranet.gov.ab.ca/opinio6//s?s=42368&opdata_u=20181068147108821030
The AOHVA has published a survey guide on how best to answer this survey if you are OPPOSED to the government’s proposal.
Please see the survey guide here:

(Or reposted here if there are problems with the first link)

2.  Please repost this.  Let everyone in Alberta know that this is important.  A park will make us lose our lands.  Alberta does not need this park.  There are huge tracts of undisturbed land there already that are far beyond people’s reach.  It can be preserved for Nature and Albertans to coexist together AS IS.  This proposal is not for the benefit of Albertans.

3.  Send a letter to the premier.  A template that you can print and sign is at the following link:

4.  Send an online letter:
