| I've got a great little backpacking tent.
I can get everything I need in the girls and my bags for a few days.
I'm wondering if anyone has tried to find a way to put the most vulnerable part of the equipment (the tent poles) in some sort of tube affixed somewhere on the bike.
The goal is obviously not to bend them, break them, or shiskabob myself. |

| They will fit in the duffel bag, but most times they go in the backpack along with the trusty graphite fishin' pole. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' |

| I knew there was more than one thing I liked about you.
My M/C has a fishing problem too.
You have a 5-piece break-down (backpacking type) that fits in a case ?
I think my shock-corded poles are longer (lengthwise) than the Camelback I'd prefer to wear (is tall) is the problem.
So you camp where you fish or clean and carry back ? ...or both ?
...and you carry a skewer or a pan ? * realizing now that I'm hijacking my own thread * |

| I have a 3 piece that breaks down and fits inside an old gun cleaning kit. I also found an old pool cue box that the tent poles will also fit into. I camp where I fish. That's one of my favorite fishing holes, about a 1/2 hour ride from home. It's a great little spot that has a picnic table and an outhouse (the great benefits of working for BCFS, I get to go to all the area lakes on my patrol route). I have a collapsable grille that I use to BBQ stuff on, so I gut and scale right there. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' |

| Here's one of my favorite fishing spots... Ya 'neek up on em from the air and knock em out and drag em to the beach downstream. The stream is good at times. There is a lake below (Lake Isabella) that you can ride down to. There are campsites, but can be a zoo in good weather. I like your good weather lake better. On topic... I guess I better go find my pole solution. |

| In this pic my tent poles are rolled up inside the blue sleeping pad strapped on the back. |

| Better yet, forget the poles and get a hammock. If I can help it I'll never sleep on the ground again. You should be fine if you put the tent poles inside of a bag or rolled up inside your sleeping pad so long as the pole sections are shorter than the bag/pad. It would take a pretty hard biff to break a modern aluminum tent pole unless its a cheap cheap tent. |

| You've got a point there. It's a toss up between a Clarke and a Hennessy; trying to decide what one would be the better one. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' |

| Neither, get a Warbonnet.
http://warbonnetoutdoors.com/
Highly suggest the double layer... mosquitoes can bite through one layer but not two so in summer you won't need something under you to keep the bites away meaning you sleep cooler. In winter or cooler weather the gap between layers is a handy place to put a pad or space blanket too. I've got a Warbonnet Traveler now, the webbing suspension is SO. MUCH. EASIER. than the Hennessey line setup (which was the major thing I disliked about it).
For a cheap light BIG tarp (Warbonnets don't come with one) http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/tarp-shelter-by-guide-gear.aspx?a=254694
The same place also occasionally has a 7x9 camo tarp available, which is what I bought, haven't tried it out yet as the snow's still melting (slowly). |

| SheWolf: Yes... My 83 IT250K. Bought new $2200 USD. Rode it for four years and sold it for $1600. It only tried to kill me once (on an MX track)
Poles: Yea... The roll-up solution works. I was thinking about a non roll-up pad (an air mattress). ...but I've got three Thermarests in the garage so.. I still need to to carry my break-down pole so it's not that much of a bother.
Hammock: That'd work. ...as long as there is trees around. No worries about bears with me hanging out in the trees. They'll all be running for somewhere QUIET to sleep ! * SSSSNNNNNNOOOORRRREEEE * |
