I must've bought some counterfeit Amsoil and Yamaha filters, that was my exact last oil change and I didn't notice the same improvement cry

Back the flux capacitor off a bit and rub some WD 40 on the headlight.

The Amsoil makes me feel like the bike goes faster, shifts easier and runs smoother. That's why I buy it.....Its all in my mind......except...it may be true.

WD40 on the headlight??? I've been using gear oil, that's what's wrong! Must be that higher viscosity slowing me down GAHHHH

From my experience this bike seems to shift nicely and run smoothly irregardless of the oil in the sump. My old bike, CBR125R, liked to pop out of gear into neutral unless it was shifted "properly", the WR shifts like a dream in comparison.

There's actually one UOA on bobistheoilguy : 2008 WR250R Used Oil Analysis

I should have posted up the last oil analysis I did on the bike when I had the Wolf's Head in it. GAHHHH I'll do that next change with the Rotella. thumb

Thread revival!

I just changed the oil out at 2000 miles from the Yamalube 10w-40 to the Amsoil motorcycle specific 10w-40. Maybe it's just in my head, but it feels smoother. scratch

One thing that is NOT in my head is the fact that I can cycle all the way through the gears without a problem. For example, when coming to a stop from cruising in 5th gear I would try to shift all the way down to 1st with the clutch lever pulled in. It would hang up in a couple gears like I was already in first, though I most certainly was not. This is now gone though.

Yay.

??
No constant mesh transmission will do that every time, it's not lubrication that will cause or stop that
The reason is simply mechanical, the transmission cannot engage every gear, it needs to be rotated slightly for the dogs to align
It ain't the oil

Amsoil "Scamsoil" is such overrated expensive snake oil, but their tests always prove it is the best. Ran that crap in my C14 for a bit and the shifting was total garbage, I am not the only one that had that same result either.

And yet there are plenty of others who use it and have no issues at all and actually love it.

I am one.

I've heard way more good things about Amsoil than bad things.

The shifting on my 250x is superb.

I pay $3/liter less for amsoil at the local honda dealer than I pay for yamalube at the yamaha dealer...

That said, I like it. I changed oil weights from the yamalube 15-50 recommended by the dealer to 10-40 amsoil. The timing chain seems a bit more noisy on the lighter oil, but there is certainly more power and the powerband is smoother.
