I got Labyrinthitis!!!

Labyrinthitis is a virus that settles in your ears that make you extremely dizzy whenever you make sudden movements, sit up, sit down or turn your head quickly. Everything just spins for a minute or three. I guess it lasts anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months. Well, I don't know how I got it, but I got it. So needless to say, I won't be riding for a little while! BUMMER!!!!!

Never heard of it but that sounds terrible. I've only been seasick once but i'll never forget. Pretty awful to say the least.

Been off my bike for 2 months with a broken wrist. Sucks but I found things to do.

Oragnized my tools, hung some shelves in the garage, rewired the birdsnest behind the TV, etc.

Hey Shewolf, that's pretty what it is. It's a vertigo thing. Horrible feeling. I will organize my shed, clean my bike and other stuff until I can ride again. Hopefully it will only be another couple of weeks.

Oh man, I feel for you. Hope you can get over that one ASAP.

Midnite: Have you been to an ENT ? ...not just a general MD ?

I've had chronic ear problems my entire life. My ENT said my eardrum looked like a paper macache (sp?) dartboard.

You could have a minor tear/hole in your eardrum (usually accompanied by hearing impairment which over time is unrecognizable because your loss always seems normal to you).

With the right equipment they can measure the (what is technically called "return loss") of your eardrum.

Also... If you ever had "Swimmer's ear" (a reduction of your ear canal) you could have had "otitis media" (a middle ear infection) that could also result in severe imbalance.

Either way, it's nothing to mess around with, and if misdiagnosed could propogate to a worse condition.

If you have not seen a specialist, go find a good one.
