How many folks do we have here from Ventura County, Santa Barbara County, Kern, and LA Counties? I'd love to get some HIGH SIERRA riding done.

Camarillo, CA.

Hey BikePsych... I guess we'll find out. We're (the girl and I) usually out riding in Cal City (Camp "C") about every other weekend. We're usually out for a few days at a time and usually on the dirt bikes, but would certainly entertain DS rides originating from most anywhere (even riding there is a cool place if you like to camp a day or so).

The last one we departed out of Lake Hughes and went out into the AV (Holiday to Bean Cyn) across almost to Mojave then south back through Lake Elizabeth.

The girl is mostly comfortable on desert type trails. I don't care what we'd ride on as long as I can get it all home either riding, or in the truck. California/Desert 93746

I can always do a guys trip so we can get a few more difficult routes in. Either way.. I just wanna ride.

Our Sierra riding would be on snowboards until mid-summer. Right now we're thinking about going up for the MX (month-end June) and riding/fishing a few days. Maybe plan a DS thing then ?

We will be venturing to our 40 in E. AZ (almost to NM) and riding out of there a few days sometime during the year. April came to mind but we're not positive.

PostSubject: Sacramento to Stockton area   California/Desert EmptyWed Feb 10, 2010 4:10 pm

Hi everyone, this is my first post and I'm at work so I have to make this quick. I have a WR250R and I live in Galt (next to Lodi; in between Sacramento and Stockton), and I really need to find some people to ride with around here because, well its just not safe or as fun as it can be with other riders. I ride daily to commute to work in stockton and usually end up going on adventure/exploration rides solo all over the central California area. I've found some amazing places around here and surprisingly they are not very far at all; I'm talking with in 30 mins away and you have great mountain/foot hill views of cali and all around great trails. Well I must get back to work. Please message me if you would like to hit the trails up with me and who ever else.

Johnny,
Read about your night ride. You could really ride up in the Hungry Valley area at night? I bet that was a hoot!!! How about a night time Halloween ride? :-D Think you could get the Castaic Riders to go? I bet I could probably get a couple of folks from VCARS to go.

"F" Hungry Valley at night.

If you're going to plan to ride at night, let's do it in the desert with wide-open trails.

We'll be in Cal City (camp "C") for most of the week.

Hey ya'll. Turkey Day ride in Phoenix. Mostly KTM990's and 690's with a sprinkling of CRF450X's thrown in. I'm heading up there myself to do the ride. Anyone interested? It starts out at Superior High School in Superior Arizona then heads up to Coke Ovens (?). Never been there but should be a good ride. Will be on Saturday after Turkey day. Details over on ADVRIDER. http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=627072

Lets make a great showing of WR250R's there.

Do you get up to Kennedy Meadows much? I'm thinking that might be a fun ride before the snow gets too deep.

Down in San Pedro, near 25th and Western, and would love to ride with someone who is willing to show a newbie some of what the area has to offer.

Old Thread I know. Planning a ride with another group out at Death Valley towards the end of Jan. 2014 if anyone is interested. I am on an X but will still do a few off road rides. Camping at Furnace Creek Campground that has food and gas.

Hi Everyone,
I just bought my first WR250R (2015 with about 2200 miles) and looking forward to doing some rides. I live in Los Angeles and welcome the chance to ride with some other WR owners. Please let me know if there is anyone in the area.
Thanks.

I used to live in San Diego and I know there are plenty of people to ride with there, I can only assume there's at least as many in LA. Look up GPS Kevin, he's a great guy in San Diego who retired from his "real job" and organizes dual sport rides. http://www.gpskevinadventurerides.com
I highly recommend him. I went on one of his rides, and it was one of my funnest rides ever!
Also look up San Diego dual sport forum http://dualsport-sd.com/forums/index.php
Lastly, there's Jerry S, on this forum. He's from Ridgecrest CA and very active.

I assure you there's plenty of people to ride with in your region. Don't limit yourself to only WRR riders. Enjoy the desert, I loved the Anza Borrego-Ocotillo Wells area. You're a little more North, maybe check out the Joshua Tree and Big Bear area.

I'm in Burbank. Locally there's not a lot but the fire roads near Santa Clarita, up to Lake Hughes and north of there to Gorman are fun and have some great views. There's a bit of riding in Los Padres accessed via Hungry Valley (currently gated for winter). There are campgrounds in both areas, too, good for an overnight from L.A. The riding is mostly easy but I've found some good sand washes and the like to have a bit of fun, and in or after rain it's a blast. Regardless, it's good for day rides when you don't have time to travel farther.

Don't study Google Maps of the area because you'll see awesome trails and fire roads only to go and find them gated. And even if you use the Angeles Forest MVUM you'll go and find more gates. Seems every time they have a fire or washout that necessitates closing they just make it permanent. I'm always tempted to ignore the gates but sadly I abide by rules even when I feel they're unfair.

Otherwise, as others have said, branching out there looks to be a ton of great rides within 3 - 4 hours. I'm just starting to explore those since the I've been a dirt guy until last year when I added the 250R. My main intent is longer trips, riding some of the BDRs (including California coming this year) and a trip to Death Valley soon.

I posted a flyer for a Death Valley ride in February that's pretty good. It's a good ride if your solo and need the safety of other riders in the backcountry. I'll be riding it again this year on my WR with a couple of other guys. Your welcome to ride with us if you make it out.

I live in the High Desert so I'm pretty up for riding anytime.

Thanks, Jerry, I appreciate it. I saw the flyer when you posted it, looks like a blast, as of now I'm traveling during that time but if I can change that I'd jump at that.
