ECU RESET????

Hey ya'll......new member here, but not new to motorcycles at all

have over 40 years of dirt/street riding, racing, maintenance etc, but this EFI is new to me

PROBLEM:

Just bought a low mileage 2008 WR250R that had the airbox opened up and a FMF power programmer attached. It ran fine at that time

The P/O removed the FMF piece to reduce the price of the bike, but now the bike has a slight bog or hesitation off of idle or when shifting up thru the gears.


So, will the ECU update itself over time? How many miles will this take?

Or is this a problem that I need to take to the dealer for an actual Factory Reset/Update?

I'll be reading much of this information over time, and hopefully I will be able to help others out on this NEWER to me BIKE

If the airbox is opened up with a bigger opening for air to enter, it will probably always run like that unless you un-open the airbox or plug in another FMF programmer.

Like rejetting a carb-equipped bike for an opened-up airbox, and then returning the carb to stock jetting while leaving the airbox opened-up.

okay cool.....that I understand

so this particular ECU does not automatically adjust itself for changes we put on the bike like some ECUs can do.

Guess I'd better get busy reading about this new-to-me-bike & decide just what I want to upgrade or not. I do want to keep a quite exhaust......I guess at this time that means a stock exhaust.

The FMF Q4 provides a performance boost and is still relatively quiet, but get a FI reprogrammer first.
