| Need a spare one for my R. Which brands are people liking and where did they buy from? I had no toil ones with my DRZ.
I have checked a couple usual parts places and they do not list one for the WRR/X?

| No-Toil is the way to go.. so easy to clean with some laundry detergent. I use Gain powder detergent.
I think I got mine at www.rockymountainatvmc.com

| Ok, thanks. I'll order from there. Good excuse to buy a spare front sprocket too. | |

TwinAir Can't remember where I bought it from. I didn't have a problem with the stock filter, so just waited until one of the usual sales was on at Motorcycle Superstore, BikeBandit, etc. Got it from one of those.

| I'm trying to decide between Twin Air & No Toil for mine.... I wish BMC made a filter for the WRX. | |

| Thanks for the pics and reply Jager. I hate that when I look at pics on the online sites and they all show a round filter. I like to see the exact filter that I need.
What is that piece if 1" strip of aluminum?? Guard for saddle bags?

| I got my new one yesterday. I'll wait to put it in till the stock one is dirty...which down here in the sand, should only take a few more weekend rides.
Silly question: Is the new one oiled?? I assume it is, but you know what they say about assuming.

| Am I the only old school guy here with the K&N?!?! | |

| Probably. K+N's don't do well in really dusty conditions without a foam pre-filter.
I've used stock, a twin-air, and currently a uni-filter (which actually came with a new cage that theoretically should allow more airflow). Haven't noticed a difference between them, maybe a slight bump going from stock. I clean mine with regular dawn dish soap and use Unifilter's oil for it.

| Oh. Well I have an X and it spends most (and by most I mean 98.5%) of the time on the street. I have always used UNI on dirt. Street I have always used K&Ns. I also clean my filter with oil change. Although on my jeep and honda car I have AEM dry filters that I am very pleased with. With them I use a stocking leg doubled up as a pre-filter as well.
Do you say that the K&N filters are no good because they will clog up due to the oil on them, or do you not like the cotton element?

| Not saying they're no good. For street use a K&N is fine and they flow well, but they aren't the best at actually filtering the air going through it especially when there's a ton of fine particulates. Dunno if it has to do with the cotton gauze medium or the oil or what, but I've seen a couple tests over the years that show how much fine dust is let through the filter. Not what i want on my bike when I'm riding out on the dusty roads and trails... but it would be fine for a street bike.
From what I remember the AEM dry filters actually outperformed the K+N's in dust and in performance.

| I was warned from the Yammie techs to stay away from the K&N in the dirt because it doesn't filter out the really fine dirt particles, even with a pre-filter over them. My stock filter has served me well; I MIGHT get myself a Twin Air but it's not top on my list. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

| Here is some good reading on airfilters. Not a direct comparison to off road motorcycles but good info anyway. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/airfilter/airtest3.htm

Yes, it is intended that you do that with the proper foam air filter cleaner and foam filter oil, both available from motorcycle dealers and motorcycle parts retailers.
