Fork sticking Empty
PostSubject: Fork sticking   Fork sticking EmptyTue Jul 26, 2011 7:38 pm

I changed the for oil and seals on my front fork and everything seemed to go fine. I went out for a ride and noticed that it was really stiff and the fork was sticking mid stroke. When I gas on it, it extends back out. I tried messing with the dampening and it didn't help.

I used 5w fork oil, oem seals, and got the levels correct.

Anyone have any ideas?

Any chance the tripple clamps are not lined up well?

May be binding.
Make sure the bottom of the right-hand fork leg (where it clamps the axle) is not pushed too far inward or outward.

How far in or out should the wheel axle be?

Torque up the front axle nut, but leave the pinch bolts loose. Bounce the front end up and down a few times (holding the front brake), then torque the pinch bolts. We usually do the axle nut, bounce, torque nut side pinch bolts, bounce, torque other side pinch bolts.
