How much electricity does this bike have?? Empty

Hi all,

With my new fairing, I am looking at running twin headlight setup which uses two H4 12v 60/55w HALOGEN BULBS running at the same time. Does the bike produce enough 12v power to run these lights + my GPS power, maybe my headed grips etc too?? I may also run some LED lights too, but they will only be a total of 3amps of draw.

Thanks all,

Joe.

350W is what the electrical system can output. I'm not an expert but there should be enough remaining after the EFI system, running lights etc to handle the 36W you're looking for (unless the 3A was for the lighting you mentioned, not the total of everything).

Did you get new lights installed yet? Any pictures?

Craigq is correct that the WRR/X puts out 350W. A rough rule of thumb that I have read is most bikes use around 100W to run. Maybe a bit more with the FI. So if we give a safety factor and use 150W. That means we have 200W or about 15amps of surplus.

The twin H4 bulbs will be the only significant draw. Up to 120W using highbeams. Heated grips could add another 50W. GPS is insignificant and LED's are pretty low draw as well unless you are running a few strings of Christmas lights on your bike. As long as your LED lights and GPS don't exceed 30W you should be good. Keep in mind that 350W output is at 5000rpm and not at idle so if you are idling for a long time with everything burning at full power you could drain your battery.

If you are worried about it you can install a volt meter and keep an eye on it. Or power everything up with your bike idling and check the battery voltage. If you are above 13volts while idling you will be good.

Cheers
