| Hello, im trying to install my FMF Q4 onto my WR250R and I've spent an hour and a half trying to get the supplied nut and stupid flimsy clip to make contact with each other it refuses to thread through as if the screw isnt long enough. Has anyone else had this problem? | |

Try to loosen up the header a little bit so you can move it some to get the whole system to align better. Just my 5 cents.... Or.... you could just try to take a bit longer bolt as I did. But as i mentioned it is esier to have the header little bit loose and tighten it after you got the other mounting points figured out right.

| Yeah I got a tad longer bolt and a lock washer and it works like a charm oh i would like to add that i have a stock header and the little transitional piece that the fmf q4 came with doesnt quite fit all the way into the muffler when everything is bolted up there is about a quarter inch still exposed. do i have a problem?

Mine is the same. I think it's the way it's designed. I have about 3000 miles with no issues.

I have renamed that stupid little bolt "the little bolt of doom"... I have a decent amount of technical expertise. Italian track bike, technical background, owned bikes for YEARS, this little clip / bolt combo was completely ridiculous. I don't know what a-hole thought it would be a good idea to supply that crappy little thing with the exhaust. This is just bad engineering. I love the exhaust - but eff the install parts. To quote a good friend who had another problem with FMF, "FMF must stand for effin mo' fos' over". I intend to call their customer service line / write an email. Anyway, I came up with my own solution. Went to the auto parts store, picked up a PERFECT replacement bolt (4mm longer) added a washer and some blue loctite, and imagine what - worked like a CHARM! Perfect fit. If ANYONE needs one of these bolts please ask me and I will drop one in the mail. I have 3 left. Eff that install process, their directions, lack of care, and the retarded sticker on the outside of the can that takes up 25% of the exhaust. Get your priorities straight FMF!!!

Many thanks! Looks like my issue might have been more from the goofy threaded insert you're supposed to screw to - mine had come out and I couldn't get it back in. Your extra bolt and a nut I had lying around and I'm all tightened up! (Now just have to put the swingarm back on and I should be in business.)
