How do you "climb stairs"? Lean back, unweight the front, and just go?

What's the secret?

What about going down? Light throttle or coast? In gear or neutral?
Front brake, or rear only?

Tips on such things would be great.

I haven't had the chance to play on stairs yet, but I think I would treat them like any other incline and lean up the hill. The same would go for up or down. As for gear, about the scariest thing you can do going down something is do it in neutral.

I also use the front brake for just about everything, but that's just habbit. One day I need to learn how this rear brake thing works.

Maybe someone like CDNSXV will chime in or someone else who runs stairs frequently.

Exactly my problem. I'm street/roadrace in the head. It's 99% front brake 99% of the time, and that's been the mantra since 1985 with me.

Reflex or emergency braking is all front with never a thought about rear brake.

Now all of a sudden things are changing.
The challenge is exciting and intriquing.

Advice from those with more expertise would be awesome.
