PostSubject: programmer needed for flapper removal??   Sat Mar 24, 2012 8:16 pm

Hello,

If I remove the flapper on my new 2012 WR250R to increase performace, is ist recommended or needed to add a fuel progammer to stabilieze the new fuel mixture?

I know if I add a 3d party exhaust I will need one but not sure about the flapper. I really don't want to as this bike was very costly.

Thank you very much!

My bike has the stock exhaust and no programmer and the flapper is removed. I removed it for space so I could more easily put electric components under the seat. I can say I noticed ZERO performance gain with it removed. All I noticed was I can hear more intake noise from under the seat.

Plenty of people have run no flapper and no programmer.

You're fine as far as not damaging the bike. Only you can decide if the bike runs rougher or smoother at specific times through the power curve.

The flapper mod isn't very drastic. It doesn't change much.

Enjoy.
