I am the currently on the University of Auckland (New Zealand) formula SAE team. Each year we build a open wheel single seater race car, to race in the Australian Forumala SAE Competition. Over the last couple of years we have been developing a custom engine package using 2 wr250 heads and making a v twin. We are almost ready to dyno run the second version of our engine but are scared that the r6 generator we were planning to use will be too much for the 250 crank as it needs to be a long way from the main bearings to clear the starting gear.
I have been looking for alternatives and the wrr/x alternator seems to be as powerful as the r6 generator but in a lot smaller package.
Would anyone be able to measure the outside diameter of the alternator for me? As long as the diameter is less than 105 mm it should fit with the Wr450 starting gear we are using. Even if someone could measure the outside diameter of the casing I could work out the size of the rotor assembly using the workshop manual.
