Was out returning a redbox blu ray and as I am hand walking the bike backward from the parking spot I pull the throttle with the cables almost completely away from the handle bar.

I was close to home so I figure I can make it. But as I took of I remember about the tool kit. I saw a gas station and pulled right in and got to work. Took me longer to put everything inside the little bag so it would fit inside the container.

This happen at 126 miles. You 2012 guys check your stuff Shog

that is an assembly/pre delivery issue. have a calm quiet word to the dealer. they need to go back to who ever did the assembly and work out why it happened. could have been very serious. luckly you weren't actually riding at the time. and if you speak really calm to the dealer, he might have an attack of guilt and you might get something for nothing.

the bikes come in a crate with bars, front wheel and front guard packed beside it. the dealer has to fit these and give the bike a full going over before its sold. obviously whoever did it slipped the throttle tube on and forgot to tighten the screws. personally i would be going over the whole front end, bar clamps, triple clamp bolts, pull front wheel and reinstall.

i'm only paranoid cuz everybodys out to get me.

I use the stock tool kit all the time, particular when adjusting chain tension. Love that 10mm/12mm combo wrench!

Same thing happened to me with my new 250r, I was off roading and accidently laid the bike down under controll from a stand still, the right handlebar buried in the dirt but not hard, when I brought the bike up everything was hanging low obviously they weren't too tight to begin with.

In my opinion it's good practice for off-road use to either not over tighten controls or use teflon tape under them. Trust me you would much rather have them spin in a crash than be so tight they snap off. Especially when you are miles from another vehicle haha.

Exactly I was pretty grateful they were loose, all I needed to do was re-align and tighten with my on board tool kit... unfortuneatly I didn't know the banjo bolt going from my brake line to the resevoir also got loosened off quite a bit and I dumped out my brake fluid on the way down the hill and had to drive home with only my rear brakes D\'OH
