Has anybody cut, or modified the stock mirror stalks?

Can you shorten them up at all, yet still retain the use-ability of them and basically spend no money in the process?

I haven't tried that. But am looking for some quality folding mirrors. I've seen some on KTM's but cannot find them anywhere.

Spend the cash and be done with it. I had a cheap set of folders, then I bought one of these. Damn nice setup. If you want 2 of them don't buy the setup they recommend. Just buy 2 of the 10 mm balls and use the reverse thread adapter off of your stock right side mirror. I have a 10 mm ball on both sides and didn't need the adapter they sell.
