LED Turn signal HELP!! Empty
PostSubject: LED Turn signal HELP!!   LED Turn signal HELP!! EmptyMon Dec 17, 2012 10:44 pm

I have been wanting to get rid of those goofy turn signals in the front that keep breaking every time i go trail riding. And i came up with a cheap solution but i need help with the wiring. I recently purchased the Flexible LED strip from Autozone. The problem im running into is the LED strip has a positive and a negative; as the bike has a three wire plug. I was wondering is there a relay or something i can hooking up to the bike and make the led strip do everything that the old blinkers do?

The stock plug carries left, right and ground. You can't make a single strip with two wires (+ & -) perform left and right. You need another strip, or one designed for left and right.

I don’t believe that is correct.
The front turn signals have three wires, positive, ground, and constant for each side. The constant wire just makes it so you have daytime running lights; they are on all the time, you don’t need it. Get a test light and find your ground, hook that up to your new turn signals and then by process of elimination find out which of the last two wires is only hot when you use the turn signals, the other will keep the light on at all time. Just don’t hook that one up.

Ah, the front signals. My bad. I should have read more carefully.

I ordered a couple of these to keep the running lamps and turn signal functions in the front:
