| Not trying to start a firestorm here, just curious on opinions of air filters, I'm torn between a Uni and a Twin Air, is there any major advantages or disadvantages to either one. I'm mostly concerned with what will filter the best. I ride mostly off road so K+N is out for me. Also, does anyone run any kind of pre filter? | |

| I think that how often you service the air filter (especially when riding off-road) is just as important as which brand to use (providing that you use an oiled foam filter with proper foam filter oil applied). I know riders that show more concern for how the bike looks to other people than their dirty/missing/falling apart air filters that needed attention months ago. Irony, because a malfunctioning air filter is a sure way to prematurely wear the engine out.
Myself, I've always preferred Twin Air (with Maxima FFT foam filter oil) because they seem to be made to withstand more cleanings before they start to come apart or the foam starts to show signs of deteriorating. They also fit well over the stock filter cage.
Uni filters are good, too, although some of their filters for certain bikes come with their own filter cage that doesn't always impress me. The Uni for the WR-250R and WR-250X may be one of them.
I've always felt you use a K&N if letting some dust/dirt by doesn't bother you.

| I run the GYTR filter, I think its made by UNI.
It flows more air due to the open plastic filter cage, the stock filter cages back fire screen is hurting its air flow a little bit.
IMO all the foam filters are about the same when clean and oiled up good with good filter oil and they work the best, K&N filters let dust and water right through, they're meant for street bikes that dont ride in dust or dirt, dont put one on a dirt bike you like lol.

| No toil here to with their oil as it seems to work very well, I use a Twin Air in my KX250 but still use no toil oil and cleaner. | |

| Thanks for the feedback, just ordered a twin-air. The deciding factor was....I thought their sticker would look coolest on my bike I read that on another forum, can't remember where, but I thought they had an excellent point, twin air has the coolest logo. | |
