First service (600 mile) remove graves insert? Empty
PostSubject: First service (600 mile) remove graves insert?   First service (600 mile) remove graves insert? EmptySun Jun 16, 2013 2:34 am

Hi, just as stated in title.  I replaced the stock insert/spark arrestor with the graves hi flo insert.  Should I put it back to stock configuration before taking the bike in for the first "mandatory" service?  Seems like since its a gytr accessory it shouldn't be a problem with warranty.  Any thoughts otherwise?

I should also add that I made a CO adjustment from stock (0) to (2) and left the ground wire from the tip over sensor grounded.  Should I set that back to stock and remove the ground?  I don't think they will even notice it, but just to be safe I thought I'd ask your opinions.

Thanks

Better safe than sorry is the phrase that pays right?

You're talking 5 minutes of time and what, five bolts?

I'd make her 100% stock as purchased if I was taking her back for first service.
Ground wire and gytr tip.

When you pick bike back up, AFTER you've paid for service, ask them if the GYTR insert would be an issue with the warranty and see what they say.

Thanks, motokid.  You're right it'd be lazy not to do it as a precaution.

I put "mandatory" in quotes, for lack of a better term.  The service tech at purchase always highly recommends that new bikes come in for at least the first maintenance, as it supposedly looks better to Yamaha in case of a warranty claim.  They actually ask you to sign off that you recieved this "reccomendation", when you leave with your new bike.   I know it's just their way of squeezing extra $, but since this is where I'll take the bike if anything does go wrong with it, I play along.  Their prices are fair and I like the peace of mind.  There are quite a few items they check and adjust on the first service.  They are also usually very helpful if I have questions when doing my own maintenance/repairs in the future.

OK.
Sounds like you have a handle on it.
Enjoy the bike. :)
