| Curious to know what everyone else who went the Yamalink route is using for settings front and rear. i.e. dropped the rear with the Yamalink only, or used some of the Yamaha adjustment as well, and how far you dropped the front end to go with that. Standard recommendation I got was to start at 10mm at the front, and no more than 18mm, and that would be if you were riding in super tight, slow speed terrain.
I'm just playing around right now trying to figure out what combination feels right. I think I went a little too crazy at either extreme to start with...

| Well, with the back I did both the shock mount adjust and then set the sag almost to the end. Nice and plush, yet holds the bumps on rough stuff real tight. Front I went down 5/8", just almost where the top of the fork tubes touch the bottom of the handlebars. I love this setup. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

| i ended up the same as SheWolf on the front end....actually i went 17mm. i also got out my tape measure and checked the front wheel to fender clearance. the housing of the tape measure is 3 inches and add that to the measured distance shown of 7.5" and you end up with 10.5" yamaha says there is 10.6" of travel. i measured this with the stock front tire and got almost exactly the same as i did with this ED77 knobby. long story short....i haven't had contact with the tire,i was real watchful about that until i was satisfied that it wouldn't. personally i think yamaha stretched the advertised wheel travel just a little bit,but i wouldn't go anymore lower with the front end than this. i measured this with the wheels off the ground, bike is on my workstand. | |

| I went full rear shock lower, yamalink, and then 5/8" up in the clamps in front. Happy so far. Haven't ridden with HF or Krabill yet, though. | |

I decide to lower front fork and i'll do the sag as soon the FU.....Ing snow melt from Quebec city ground. I was riding last week but today SNOW STORM.....Anyway my point is i saved 195$cdn and before purchase YAMALINK there is thing to do.... Danlap

| don't forget that besides the sag in the rear, there is also the factory height adjustment back there. Get a factory manual from someone (cough, cough, shewolf, cough) and it will show you how to adjust that as well. | |

| I just had my new WRR delivered to my door today! It is beautiful! It is also very tall. Can you go a little more in detail about the shock lowering? | |

| Thank you. I searched the web last night and found the thumpertalk article on lowering. I had to copy and paste the picture links for some reason in order to show it. The amount of lowering does not seem to be too much though. I am going to try a wheeling supply seat first. | |

| That or you could shave yours. I was kinda skeptical for the longest time about doing it to mine, but I got 2" out of it and it's WAY more comfy. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

Did you use a grinder to shave it ? I find this interesting since it keeps all the clearance under the bike. You never know when this half an inch makes a difference to clear a rock.

| Yep, I use an angle grinder and a bit of emery cloth. A bit messy but it sure did the trick, and saved a few bucks on buying an A/M seat. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

| I'm going your way SheWolf. I got some knives that are as sharp as razor blades and cut through foam like butter. We'll see if I screw it up. Glenn. | |

| I've got about 30mm out of the front. Here's the trick. . . you will need to reverse the handle bar mounts. When doing this you will find that you can drop the forks about another 15mm over the original 15mm for a total of 30mm. Obviously the bars will be a little closer to you, but you will get a huge drop out of the front. I have the Yamalink in the rear, shaved seat, cut down side stand and the suspension is totally plushed out. My fiancee is 5'1" and she's going to be riding the X this summer. | |
