| Well for me it has to involve an engine so I picked up this 1987 Ford Falcon UTE for $50 AU. Great for donuts and slides out the farm. | |

| I'm carless now, so the bike is my only current motorized toy. I used to be big into autocross though, here's some of my old cars. 98 Accent I ran in FSP, taken at the 2005 Solo Nationals 00 Civic SI I ran in STS Rotax TAG Kart I autocrossed and wanted to start w2w racing before I went back to college. Once I graduate, I'll probably get a shifter kart to autocross or a Formula Vee to road race. Or both. I'd also like to start mucking around with boats one day, preferably the sail kind. Only other things I do now are go to class, go to work, and occasionally go to the bar. Thinking about trying surfing more seriously once I get a truck again, been trying to get back into skating (not that I was ever particularly good), and I want to start boxing this winter. Also dabble in firearms, I've got an S+W Model 10 that I like to shoot occasionally but not too often with ammo prices/availability anymore. Also looking into a 12guage and a .22 rifle for clays, hunting, and/or target shooting. | |

Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, actually. No relation to the GWP. Sometimes called "The Four Wheel Drive of Gun Dogs". They point, track, retrieve... pretty much do it all. I started out training him to be a CARDA rescue dog while I was still ski patrolling at Whistler, but then moved back here where there's no avalanches to contend with while patrolling so dropped that. That's my old boy, he's 13 now. Pretty blind, pretty deaf, getting arthritic, and perhaps I think a little senile. He swam off into the local slough last night after a duck he saw and then couldn't find his way back. After about ten minutes of me yelling his name and realizing he couldn't hear my voice and couldn't differentiate the shore from the patches of reeds he was in, I ended up having to take off my shirt and go out after him through that mucky water, weeds, and loon shit in my pants and boots. Being a strong swimmer comes in handy sometimes... If I'd lost sight of him, he'd have wandered around out there until he eventually got tired and drowned. So... no more swimming for him under those kinds of conditions. We have three Griffs: him, Kiren The Little Beer Dog who is one of his pups from when we bred him two years ago, and Piper the rescue Griff. We had Holly as well who was also from the same litter as him (and how my wife and I met in the first place), but we lost her to liver cancer about two years ago. Anyways, he's my heart dog; not sure I'll get another dog once I lose him. Him and his sister, back when they were in their prime about five years ago His first point as a young dog. This ended up on the cover of a gun dog magazine. Not a very good scan of the slide. He plays hockey. He's not that good actually - I never have been able to teach him to keep his stick on the ice... I can go on about Griffs forever, so perhaps I'll just start a dog thread sometime. - Quote :

Well, if it's got anything to do with sports in the water, I'm all for it. I used to dive a lot, paid for my first trip through university as a geoduck diver, but haven't done any of that since leaving the Wet Coast. Just not the same in fresh water. Should get back into windsurfing, but not enough time for that anymore, and waterskiing is out of reach for us expensewise these days. Whitewater kayaking is still affordable, however, and like dirt biking in a lot of ways. I started competitive shooting when I was a cop, carried that with me into the military, and have never really stopped. That's a PPC Distinguished target - that wouldn't even rate an also ran in a 1500 match. Also shoot Service Rifle, IDPA a bit, bowling pin matches, trap, skeet, and a bit of sporting clays. Used to shoot a fair amount of Bullseye and Olympic pistol, but none of that going on where I live now and my middle aged eyesight is getting brutal for seeing that front sight nice and sharp these days. Have an appointment with an optometrist in a couple of days to see if we can figure out some kind of monocular vision strategy for contacts or whatever so I don't have to keep track of all kinds of different glasses for all kinds of different things. Getting old really sucks as your body starts giving up on you... ...on the other hand it sure beats the alternative!

| Beautiful dogs, Rick! Too bad you didn't continue to breed them with your knowledge and all. Awesome stock. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

Isn't that the sport where you buy a cheap rod and a few lures made out of scrap metal so you have an excuse to buy a boat that will do 90 mph and then tell the wife "Just going out with my buddy to do a little fishin'..."
