| I have a few questions about the oxygen sensor. What does it do?/What is it for? Why don't the North American bikes have it? Which aftermarket exhausts have a hole for it? If I put on an aftermarket exhaust will it mean a power programer is not needed? Thanks for any help. | |

| My oxygen sensor tells me when I need to roll over or get the puke out of my mouth and nasal cavity and start breathing again... An oxygen sensor measures the oxygen or, to be more precise, the amount of fuel in the exhaust flow and it helps to make mixture adjustments for fuel delivery. Apparently, the US spec models dont have one because it has a very basic fuel injection system, and can mannage without the circuitry or sensor input. Some people have said they can tell a difference in the bikes power when they are suddenly found riding in the rain, and this can be traced back to the lack of ability of the FI system to know if the mixture delivery is altered by the atmospheric conditions the bike is operated in. Things like throttle position and RPM are the only variables the FI system uses to make adjustments from. If an oxygen sensor was in use, then the computer could determine, on the fly, if the mixture needed adjustment, leaner or richer, based on the actual performance of the motor... |

Not exactly, the FI system, with or without, a O² sensor, has limited capability and that is all designed around the STOCK motor. Altering the exhaust flow means altering the intake flow and no performance gains will be found if there is not adequate fuel for the increased air flow rates. |

| The only aftermarket exhaust that comes STOCK with the hole would be Leo Vince... if I recall correctly | |

| Buy an O2 sensor bung on Ebay and have a local welder TIG it in there. Shouldn't cost you more than $40.00 total. | |

| Might as well add the Graves to that list as well if we're reviving old threads to update them. | |
