| Spent several hours yesterday doing all the recommended mods on the bike. Pipe, header, programmer, EXUP emulator, hi flow air filter, pulled off the AIS and airbox flapper/solenoid/surge tank/etc. I took it out for a test ride this afternoon, and can say that the butt dyno and I are well pleased. It's easy to see how strangled the little engine was from all the emissions crap on it. I got a package deal on the pipe and programmer from SR moto, and also a Flatland bash plate and Zeta handguards. Everything was just over a grand, but I got such a good deal on the bike from the PO, I don't mind putting a bit more into it. Just broke 400 miles on it today, and the engine is singing happily now that it can breathe.
Fueling was close to spot on with the EJK programmer out of the box, no flat spots, no decal popping. It is just a bit abrupt down low, but for a fuel injected dirt bike, I'm not complaining, and I don't anticipate messing with any of the settings. Someone else mentioned having troubles mounting their header and FMF pipe, and I ran into the same thing. Had to grind away part of the passenger peg mount to keep it from fouling the pipe. Also the mounting bolts FMF sent along were way too short. Had to make a trip out for longer bolts. Seems FMF would know better as long as they have been doing this. Neither is a big deal, but it does slow your momentum when you are trying to get a lot done in one afternoon.
If you are still riding a stock bike, do the mods. You will be well pleased!

| You can adjust the CO mix thru the computer. You can adjust the throttle position sensor setting. Search the net. Should be easy to find links to these procedures. There is quite a bit of stuff on doing these mods on ADV. We did two bikes and it helped a lot, but did not cure it. The TPS sensor is a little hard to get to and I made a little tool per stuff I read to get to the two Torx screws. The two screws are the Torx with a pin in the center so you have to get the correct type torx driver tip and they are behind the frame and hard to get to. You have to be a little careful doing this adjustment not to break the TPS. All the CO adjustment requires is that you add a ground wire off the tip over sensor. This allows you to get into some of the onboard computer stuff. I'll look to see if I still have the links to these procedures bookmarked. Now remember, our bikes are stock and we do not have pipes or controllers. For the riding we are doing, we did not feel the reward justified the price to get a few horses up top. I then went a little further on mine. I added a throttle tamer assembly. On the last ride I did, it slowed the response way too much and took too long to rev. It took too much throttle position to get the revs up. You had to twist the throttle way more to get the revs up. I have since changed the cam drive to the throttle tamer. The next size cam makes a big change but I have not ridden it off road yet. We did the CO adjustment first we found it hard to tell how much it helped. The TPS adjustment was much easier to tell it had made a change in how the motor came off idle. I also changed gearing to a 49 tooth rear hoping the the bike would pull most stuff in 2nd gear and the motor would be working a little harder and further away from idle. Hope this all makes sense. My friend is an A enduro and MX rider and he felt the bike was almost unridable off road using 1st gear in slow stuff due to the jerky throttle response. Much better now. But, I do not know how these work now that you have the controller. I have heard of folks doing a controller and these mods. Go bigger in back - you won't be disappointed. _________________ 2008 WR250X Gearing: 13t - 48t Power Commander 5 / PC-V Airbox Door Removed - Flapper glued - AIS removed FmF Q4 Bridgestone Battlax BT-003rs

Go bigger in back - you won't be disappointed. Good suggestion. I'll probably hold off on the sprocket change for a while, at least until I get to know the bike a little more. I've only put about 60-70 miles on it so far, and maybe 30 mins off road. I'll know better after a few trips to the woods with my riding partners. How's the top end speed with the lower gearing?

How's the top end speed with the lower gearing? I have a 45 tooth rear, and it can approach 90 mph (GPS) in the right conditions. It still isn't limited by the engine revs, but rather the power, so going up a few teeth may actually help top speed.
