| Is it correct that the max speed of a WR250X is around 132 km/h, fuel consumption is around 4.5 l/ km at a speed of 90 km/h? Just bought a 2010 WR250X with 1100 km on the counter, I gave it a complete wash and lubrification and at present I'm still waiting for a package carrier and dito case. It has a LeoVince X3 exhaust: does this exhaust change in anyway the performance of the bike? Or are there other ways to do so f.e. via the electronic ignition or...? I'm sure that all Motorbike Riders are a big family and also real sports. All answers are welcome, I wish you all a nice Sunday and thanks in advance for your response, Bye for now, Paul | |

| I've had mine up to 143 km/h with heavy wind.
Fuel consumption...I have all the common mods done to my bike (except for stock gearing) and I get around 100 km's before the fuel light turns on (5.0 to 5.5 L to refuel).
The exhaust helps, but what really helps is also adding a fuel programmer and also airbox mods / better air filter.

| Thanks aka Envol for the info. Can you tell me at what speed you gave the fuel consumption? | |

What exactly are you trying to figure out? There's a few different threads here at this forum about fuel consumption. Use the search feature and type in mileage. Most people get between 50-65 mpg (us gallons) (which equals about 21-28 kpl) 60 mpg (US) converts to 25 kilometers per liter (kpl) if I'm using the right converter. A very select few get over 70 mpg, but they really must be doing a lot of slow speed riding, and coasting to do that..... These are real world figures posted by people who do lots of riding in many different conditions, and at many different altitudes. What's your concern or question? If you need longer range there are bigger fuel tanks you can buy, or you can carry extra gas a few different ways. Fuel consumption varies with conditions and riders, but generally plan on somewhere around 20-25 kilometers per liter. Regardless of how you fast or slow you go. _________________ 2008 WR250X Gearing: 13t - 48t Power Commander 5 / PC-V Airbox Door Removed - Flapper glued - AIS removed FmF Q4 Bridgestone Battlax BT-003rs

| My fuel consumption is general riding. I commute to work which consists of a 15min ride each way at 70km/h for most of the time and 50km/h in the small streets. I wish I could say that I always stay at those speeds, but my right wrist likes to twist "a little more" and I accelerate hard off the line at stops. For fun rides, I usually get around the same 100km before the light turns on. Highway or small streets, I tend to get the same result. I run the stock tank, not an over sized one from Acerbis / IMS. Before I modded the bike, I was getting 200 km's per tank !!!! So if you're looking for fuel economy, don't modify your bike. I will say that the bike is a lot more fun after it's modded.... | |

| Thanks very much for your response. I know all depends on how you use your bike. I owned a Tricker so I 'm used to master my fuel. I only wanted a little extra information that's all. Paul | |

| 132 kph = 82 mph
Most stock bikes can see 145 kph (90 mph) or there-abouts.
Gearing and modifications make huge differences in top speeds.
Also the stock Yamaha speedo reads about 7% high so what some people report as top speed isn't truly correct unless they are using a gps or some other method of correcting the factory speedo.

Ah, the incessant mileage threads... which is okay, the economy of the bike is one of its attractions. I can't say much about max speeds; I think I pegged mine out once on a long, long, long straight stretch. I don't even remember what it was, but I do remember it took a long time to get those last few MPHs, with me leaning over the tank. Generally speaking, I find the bike noticeably annoying once you get over 80 mph, so generally my top speeds on the highway are somewhere between 75 and 80, and that's only when I need to be somewhere in a hurry. For the fuel consumption you mention above, I think you were intending to say 4.5 L/100 km, which is how fuel consumption is expressed in Canada at least. That would be about 52 MPG, using the US gallon instead of the Imperial gallon you'll encounter in England and other Commonwealth countries. Consumption in these bikes varies tremendously for a variety of reasons: size of rider, load on bike, mods, gearing, etc., all with the little 250cc engine at the core. It's not like my Dodge Ram 3/4 ton 4x4 diesel - I bought it new in '95 with my bullet bonus when I got home from overseas, it has gotten 27 - 28 mpg from the day I got it. Odo is ticking over 700,000 and about all I've ever really done is change oil, filters, etc. That Cummins gives about the same mileage, loaded or not, because most of the time the engine is barely working. The exact opposite is at work with the WRR, so small things really make a difference in fuel consumption. If you're just riding with traffic at 90 kph as you mentioned, I'll stick my neck out and say you're probably going to see something like 3.8L/100 km. That's an unmodified bike, just traveling and grooving through the curves. I've seen numbers like that while riding at those speeds without being on and off the throttle and brakes constantly. Lots of differences in best/worst case scenario as far as fuel consumption goes - and that's just with the same rider varying things.
