Hey All, I want to convert my WR250X into a WR250R. I am getting a set of 18/21 wheels and the front brake caliper with master cylinder from the WR250R plus the fork guard.
I am contemplating going this route or just getting a WR250R and be done with it.

My question is that is there an difference in the suspension of the two bike and the fork rail? If it is, I think I’ll just get the WR250R.

Thoughts?

Will appreciate any feedback.

With knowledge of our discussion in this thread -

https://wr250rforum.forumotion.com/t10851-wr250r-vs-wr250x-for-adventure-riding-dilemma

No difference. The factory settings for the forks/shock are different between the X and R but both bikes use the same components.

As mentioned in the other post we have one of each bike, they actually started out as the opposite - The R I now ride was an X and my wife's X was an R (long story…) so I've done the swap on both.

I put Warp 9 wheels (18/21) on my X using a larger front brake disc (came with the wheels). So the X rotor was retained. Around $900 total including new tires. If the X wheels hadn't ended up on my wife's bike I could have the best of both worlds (the occasional supermoto ride)

Hope this helps

Yes, this helps a lot!! Looks like I have almost exactly the same set-up as you now.... wings cheers
Did you soften the suspension on your X after going with 18/21 for dual sport riding? I'd probably need to pick your brains on how you had set it up....
