| Hey, here's a kind of dumb question, but this being the first real dualsport I've owned (that I'm going to keep for a while), I was wondering where you all keep your bike registration paper? Here in Washington state, you have to have that and proof of insurance with you when you ride. No problem on my street bike, but other than just carrying it on me, I'm kind of at a loss on where to stash it. I like to keep it on the bike so I don't accidentally forget it. With my luck I'd get pulled over just then. About the only place I can think of that I can always easily get to would be behind either of the side panels. One bolt and they come right off.
Like I said, it's a silly question, but I figured I'd see what the group says. |

| So does that tool pouch/box stay in place pretty well? It seems like it could get knocked loose and lost.

| I keep mine under the seat in a zip lock bag. Welded big wing nuts on the seat bolts so I can take the seat off without tools. Those wing nut bolts are so much better then the OEM bolts. Have them on the side covers also. | |

| At home lol
Only been stopped a couple times though, I tell the officer the truth that I keep the registration locked up at home so I don't lose it.
P.S. Any decent riding jacket should have an inner pocket for it.

| Wallet, no question. Along with my drivers license and any other standard requirements for driving any registered motor vehicle. Most people today should have it with their hand held device, they'll never forget it that way. | |

| I put a Bell bicycle bag on all my bikes that have crossbars on the handlebars. Cost about $11.00 at Wal-Mart. Insurance and registration papers go in a ziplock bag and then I keep them in the bag. Enough room for phone, snack or drink but small enough that it isn't in the way when riding. It is about the same size as the KLR handlebar bag but cost $50 less. | |

| ZipLoc bag in waterproof pocket in my jacket. Since I don't foresee riding without my jacket I know I'll always have it. If I ever get a second jacket for other weather conditions I'll have to reconsider.
The PO kept it in the toolbox and the tools rubbed through the bag and it got wet/muddy. Not ruined, but I could see having a problem on the side of the road when your reg turns to dust in front of the cop. The other reason I don't like this spot is sometimes people steal stuff just because it's stealable. The toolbox is pretty stealable.

That's a pretty good idea and I don't know why I never thought of it. I never ride without my jacket, so why not stick the papers in one of the 347 pockets?

| I have one of these on my WRR and DL650:
http://www.amazon.com/Lockable-Motorcycle-license-storage-Resistant/dp/B010RJC9IY
Worked pretty well although I do have to lube up the lock once or twice a year.
On my Beta and CB500X I store it under the seat in a zip lock bag.

| I thought of that too, but I have the license plate mod from SoloRacer. (their picture, not mine) It's so close to the light, I don't think I could get it open. Unless others have done this and found that it works. For now I just keep them in a ziplock in my pocket. Simple. |

| I use an old textile wallet....I put the paperwork in a ziplock bag..and that gos into the wallet...then I velcroed the wallet to the top of the speedometer,,,,it is sandwiched between the speedometer and the headlight shroud. I have over 34,000 miles and a few low speed falls and the wallet has not moved and its out of the way but easily accessible. | |

| I had one of those license plate storage things that darngood1 posted about above. It worked great until I hit some deep whoops pretty hard and snapped the lock off. Needless to say, everything inside it came out and ended up on the trail somewhere and we never could find it. I carry copies of my registration and insurance info in my wallet now. Lee | |
