I believe that some of you have installed tachometers on your WRRs. Would you share with the rest of us what RPMs you are turning at various speeds. I am running the stock gearing and stock size tires and am curious what my RPM is in 6th at 70 MPH, in 5th at 60 MPH etc. My odometer seems pretty accurate; about 3% high. The speedometer is another story, seems like about 10% high. I know these bikes can be reved pretty high but wonder about cruising down the road in 5th at 65MPH. Also wondering if going to a 12 tooth would have me reving the crap out of it just to keep up with traffic. The road I ride to get south of town is speed limit 65 MPH but the normal speed is 70 MPH. Thanks for your help on this.

Read this thread and you can see how to get your own tach. Only problem is the speedo doesn't work while using this method, so you will need to get someone to ride next to you at a known speed to get your RPM readings for certain speeds.

My calculations (which square well with observation - ie my rev limiter cuts in at 68MPH indicated in third gear - which equals 63MPH true and 11,500 RPM) show that with stock gearing and a fairly fresh trailwing (0.3 to 0.4" center knob depth) your RPM at 70MPH true speed is 7505 in sixth gear, 8478 in fifth. With a 12 tooth front sprocket it will change to 8131 and 9185. If you drive it at 67MPH in fifth with stock gearing you will be very close to what 6th will feel like with 12T front. Hope this helps.

I posted a bunch of these a long time ago. Don't have much time to fool around right now, but here's one with the stock tires:

Looks great; is it an Excel spreadsheet?
Is the spreadsheet available for download?

That chart is really nice and very useful. Is there a way to get a clear copy to print out? I would tack it to the wall in my garage for future use. Thanks for posting it.

OOPS! Nevermind, I found your old posts and figured out how to print the graphs. They printed out much clearer than the image on the screen. Thanks.
