So I picked up my new/used 2015 Sunday and I am dialing it in for me. I noticed that the guy I bought it from had the forks raised about an inch and a half and the rear shock mount clevis was turned all the way up (to the rebound adjuster). So....first order of business was putting the forks back to stock height and also adjusting the shock back to stock-ish (i.e unscrewing the clevis). The question I have is, how much thread should be showing? I guesstimated and I unscrewed the clevis until it was still threaded about half way through the clevis block. and tightened the lock nut. My rebound adjuster is at max (3 clicks from seated) and I want to say I have 3/4" of thread exposed although I did not measure it. Bike feels great I just want to make sure I did not unscrew the clevis too much etc. I am sure it is fine but just want to check......

I had the same question. Got some good replies in the above thread. Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Brent

From a structural standpoint as long as the threads are fully in the clevis/nut there is no issue - any threads that stick out are not adding strength to the joint.

However, a friend of mine jacked his as far up as he could go and then his kick stand was too short.
