Do a search on this forum and you will find mention of a spare electrical connector up in the headlight area. Hard to fin since it is usually taped up but you should find switched power and ground on that connector.

Maybe I'm wrong but isn't the bike itself the ground?

Generally not a good idea to wire a ground into the frame especially if the bike has Aluminum and steel parts in the frame. You can get some pretty weird corrosion happening depending on where you tie into and how the current flows.

Thanks for the replies. I still haven't figured this out. My normal MO is just throw stuff together and then go to forums to unscrew my work:D I'm trying to do this a bit more professionally, I'm installing, auxiliary lights, heated grips and HBD handguards and only want to do things once. I mean I even bought shrink tube and have been soldering instead of twist and tape for Pete's sake!
I have some time today, so I'll try and figure out the ground wire and post my findings here just in case some other mechanical electrical noob does a search

If you're installing aux lights, maybe you can piggy back off one of those ground wires.

yeah, I might try and get everything done today on it, but right now it's sunny in NW WA so I think im going to take the monster out for a ride. I had asked Basher ( http://www.basherdesigns.com/adventure/wr250r/ ) about it and he said the Eastern Beaver had a ground and I was like great! Then I looked and one plug has 3 wires and the other two only 2 so now I'm confused again ( I still think I should have two wires going into the plug because, well isn't that how plugs work?) it's very frustrating not being mechanically inclined. I'm not afraid to try stuff that has nuts and bolts, but with electrical stuff I'm always afraid I'm going to blow up something expensive.

I got the grips installed with more help from Basher, he was even kind enough to use a picture I sent to show what wires go where. What a guy, taking time out of his weekend to help a complete stranger with rudimentary help. People like that make it a pleasure to hang out on forums like this and ADV.

Turns out the ground just connects to the other lead that is not the hot wire. I can use that ground wire for multiple grounds.
