Subject: How do I polish an fmf header? Sat Sep 03, 2016 2:35 pm
I recently bought an used fmf header which I'd like to polish up. What's out there that does a good job cleaning up a header?

I found that 000 grade steel wool and some elbow grease did quite a good job cleaning up up my FMF header. It retained the discoloration from the heat but looked nice and clean giving it a very cool grunge look.

If I'm correct, this is a stainless steel header, so how about a stainless steal cleaner? would that help? along with some elbow grease of course.

Yeah stainless steel cleaner should work fine. I didn't have it. It didn't take a lot of elbow grease with the steel wool. Probably 10 mins for from start to nice clean dry header.

Steel wool for normal cleaning. If it is really bad & needs reconditioning sandpaper then steel wool & maybe some polish. It will always discolor/turn gold though.

I've always been found of nevr-dull... Don't know what that much heat would do to it, but it worked good on ss car mufflers...
