| How often is too often to change tires on rims?
I'm looking at using my wrr too and from work, not as a daily though, just when the weather's nice. For that, I'm thinking I'll pick up a front and rear battle ax, and swap the d606s back on the once or twice a month I'll be hitting the trails. The odds of finding a trail with the axes on is pretty slim as I live in a northern suburb of Minneapolis, so I don't think I'll regret having the street oriented tire.
Is swapping out once or twice per month unrealistic? I'm sure I'll be pinching tubes until I'm better, but once I get it down, it should go pretty quick, I would think.

| That's more often than most change tires, but it's not unheard of. | |

| Practice makes perfect. I swap and flip tires frequently on my race bike. | |

| Cool, I won't worry about spending the money on another set of wheels. Thanks. | |

| How many kilometers of road use? You could just buy a couple more d606, change them abit more often and forget about the dedicated roadtires. That should cut down on some of the tire-swaps.
I dont know any that will flip tires several times a month, but please update this thread with what works for you.

| 40 miles round trip, a couple times a week, plus whatever I get on weekends.
How are the street manners of the d606 compared to the battle ax? I would assume it's a decent improvement based on how much more rubber is in contact with the road vs the d606.

| I swap tires. I have conti trail attacks for my daily riding and then swap to pure dirt for the 2 weekends a month i get to ride offroad. I would not switch tires that often. | |

The conti tkc80 or Michelin t63 both have great on and off road manners. D606s wears very well for a 90/10 tire. The downsides to swapping tires are scratching on your rims, potential for pinching tubes and balancing each time. I'd just buy an aggressive 50/50 tire or if you're an aggressive rider pick up a set of Supermoto wheels and get the best of both worlds. FWIW I have a friend who tried the supermoto/dirt back and forth on his drz and ultimately found the labor of switching back and forth too much and dedicated the drz to offroad. -morgan

| I swap tires all the time on other bikes. The rear tire on my 990 is $190 so if I'm doing a trip where there's a lot of paved road I put on my Shinko. | |
